Lentils And Spinach

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
I loved this and would have given it 5 stars but my husband didn't care for it. Mainly because he doesn't like the texture of lentils but he said the flavor was really good. I took advise from other reviews and made it with 1c lentils and there was still moisture in the pan so I'm glad I took that advise - I wouldn't have wanted it too soupy. I also added a can of diced tomato, that tasted excellent along with all the other ingredients and seasoning. I will make this from time to time, it's a nice healthy meal even if my husband has texture issues :)

Zucchini and Pork Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2010
We all loved this! I didn't change the recipe at all and it was fantastic. What I really appreciated was that it was a unique flavor. I never used oyster sauce before so I'm sure that made the difference, yet it didn't taste like 'seafood' in any way. We will definitely make this again!! YUM!!

Honey-Ginger Shrimp and Vegetables

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2010
My husband and I really liked this. My grown son didn't care for the heavy honey flavor. We used just under a teaspoon of the crushed red pepper, and it was still very spicy - my husband would like it better with even less. I used 2 zucchini like someone else said in their review and more ginger but other than that I did everything else according to the recipe. We served with whole wheat pasta. We'll make this again with some slight modification.

Mediterranean Chicken with Eggplant

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
This was exellent. I never made anything like this before so I didn't know what to expect but we will definately have this again. Both my husband and my grown son really liked it. We didn't vary from the recipe. We got a large eggplant and just used the one but we'll want to use more next time. I also think we'll add garlic the next time too.

Asian Style Country Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
We all loved this! I made this in half the quantities but that made no difference I'm sure. I didn't slow cook it, didn't plan ahead properly - but baking it covered for an hour at 350 and everyone raved about it - very very good; didn't change much - used another type of hot sauce because I didn't have this kind, and I didn't have the right vinegar but read that apple cider vinegar would be an appropriate alternative. And I also took the advise of another review saying to swap the quantities on the oil which I agree that sesame oil is very strong - that was a good idea. It was so good!!

Tarragon Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
This was really good. I used a whole pound of spaghetti though, it seemed like a lot of liquid for a half pound, and it came out very good, plenty moist and gave us leftovers which we find convenient. The only other change I made was to use cream of mushroom soup, I don't care for cream of chicken. I will probably add onion next time too.

Pizza Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
This was very good. We did modify it based on some reviews. We added garlic & peppers, and used 1/2 the pepperoni which we cut into quarters. Next time we want to get stick pepperoni to have bigger bits in the soup. Another addition we tried was adding another cup of water and a cup of orzo, we liked the texture the pasta added. The flavor was pretty good, it does need a boost, maybe more italian seasoning next time too. We'll have it again though - it was easy & quick as well, that always helps on busy work nights :) **UPDATE** I made this again using 1tbsp italian seasoning and cutting up a 5oz stick of pepperoni into chuncks and it made the world of difference - we all really loved it - it disappeared this time lol :)

Corn Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2010
We liked this and will probably make it again, mainly because it was quite quick. We took the advise of many reviews and this is how I tried it: we cooked the noodles only for 4min. Browned the meat with onion & garlic, then added a can of creamed corn & I used cream of chicken soup - I was out of cream of mushroom soup but I think that would have made it better. I also added celery and sage. I topped it with cheddar cheese too. I baked it uncovered for the 20min as written. It was pretty good, not spectacular but for something different & quick it's a good item to change up the rotation.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Sausage Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
Oh my goodness, if I could give more stars I would! This was spectacular!! I followed the recipe closely. I did omit the beans, my husband refuses to eat them. I used 2 sweet italian sausages and 2 hot italian sausages, I often mix them in recipes. Also I used 2 chicken breasts partially cooked then cut tiny. I had everything else in the slow cooker on high until I put the meat in. Then I put everything in at the same time and let it slow cook for 5hr - my whole place smelled so good all day and everyone was eager for supper that night!! This didn't disappoint anyone - we served over white rice cooked with beef broth. Loved it!!

Haddock Bubbly Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
So excellent!! We didn't vary much from the recipe. We added brocolli, and only baked it for 30min, covered for 20min. We served this with baked potatoes - we really loved it!! We did use cream of celery, but really any of the cream soups would work depending on your preferance. We also added garlic. Oh ya and we used less onion, maybe by half based on so many of the reviews. Will definitely be making this again!

Garlic Cheese Breadsticks

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
These were pretty good, everyone liked them but I had higher expectations. Also I didn't have all the ingredients so maybe it's not fair to rate it but I will be trying this again with the right stuff. I didn't have any wheat germ so I used 2c flour. I added shredded cheddar to the dough, in addition to topping with mozzarella & parmasian as the recipe says - thought it would give it more flavor) and I put the seasoning in the dough (mainly because I didn't pay attention reading the recipe ha!) Again because of not paying attention I put all the oil in the dough - which might be why it was so tacky, I ended up adding so much more flour but it all worked out in the end. I didn't time everything right -I first thought I'd cook these first then the chicken for supper - but then I figured these would be better hot out of the oven (which was true) but they sat a lot longer than the recipe states and got puffy. Like I said everyone really liked them but I had higher expectations and I know I messed up a few things lol. gl!

Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
I wish I could give this more stars! We loved this, it was so delicious!! I used advise from different reviews and modified the seasoning - I used 1tsp basil, 1tsp Italian seasoning, and everything else the same as the recipe is written. Oops I also added garlic & onion (I usually add these to almost everything I make unless it would clash too much.) We also tried making more 'sauce' as many suggested - I used 1c cream and 1/2c wine. We did have leftover sauce because I was the only one who wanted it over my potatoes but the flavor was scrumpteous!!

Spinach Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
This came out perfect, everyone loved it. I didn't change a thing. The spinach & cheese flavors are really subtle. We made it by hand and made it into rolls and baked at 400 for 20min (usually I bake rolls for 15min but they didn't get golden in 15min) Yum - will definitely be making this again!

Sukiyaki Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
We made this last night, we loved it. I do have to say that I've never had Sukiyaki Beef so I am not comparing it to how it is from a restaurant - just how it came out and what we thought of it. I was looking for a recipe to use up certain items before they spoiled, and this recipe worked out perfectly for that. We followed the recipe exactly except I only had frozen spinach to add. Oh ya and I added garlic. We will definitely make this again!

Cranberry Sauce Chicken II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
I just realized that I never rated this recipe as I'm planning to make it again. We all really liked this - the "sauce" is very interesting and unique but definitely tasty. I followed the recipe, didn't change a thing. I love that it's so easy to prepare too! Obviously I'll make this regularly as like I said I'm planning to make it again :)

Chunky Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
Fantastic! I was skeptical but I wanted to find a new recipe for the imitation crabmeat - we loved this! I did add celery and used milk in place of half of the half-and-half (we didn't want to run out and not have any for coffee) and it was plenty thick. It had a slight sweet flavor, everyone really liked it. It was quick and easy - will definitely be making this again! Corn would go very good with this recipe too.

Kielbasa Cabbage Skillet

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
This was pretty good, loved that it was quick and easy. My husband and son liked it more than I did I think - I felt it needed more flavor although kielbasa has a lot of good flavor itself I just think the flavor could have been enhanced but I'm not sure what I would season it with. Many people said they added crushed red pepper but my husband didn't want to try it with that - maybe I'll try that next time though. I did add garlic, and we served over noodles as many suggested. Just a little bland, but worth working with. Next time I have leftover cabbage I'm sure I'll make this again and try some more seasoning :) ***UPDATE*** I added a couple of shakes of carraway seed and that's all this needed - it was soooo good :)
