Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Excellent, my husband especially loved this. The only change I made was to use tomato sauce & and can of dice tomatoes in place of the tomato soup (didn't have any and my husband loves diced tomatoes in stew). And I added minced garlic :)

Chilled Rice Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
Love this! I made it spontaneously yesterday because I had leftover rice and no one eats it but me most of the time - and I just saw this yesterday so I tried it but didn't have a lot of the ingredients so I still need to try it with olives and peppers. I did add chopped cherry tomatoes though, and I just love having a great way to use up leftover rice; having this for lunch today - can't wait lol!

Tuna Pasta Salad with Dill

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
We all loved it, especially my husband. I took advise from some reviews and used sweet relish instead of just some pickle juice. I used w.w.pasta, and added a zucchini chopped up just to use it up. The taste was great, I will make this again!

Chunky Monkey Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
Yum! My step-son and I made these yesterday - I divided the mixture in half before adding the chocolate chips though because he wanted white chocolate and my son prefers regular chocolate - and I used olive oil instead of butter, and used half whole wheat flour as another review suggested. They were so good and we'll have these regularly :)

My new addiction!! I was crazy about these! I added blueberries unstead of currants or raisins (I didn't have either) and I also had to throw in some white chocolate chips and they were just amazing!!

Slow Cooker Island Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
Loved it! We made this yesterday, and it just smelled so good all day! My husband just didn't care for the firmness of the peppers, so I'd have to add them sooner next time, but I'm definitely making this again! We had it over brown basmati rice, my favorite. The flavor was just so good!!

Beef 'n' Green Bean Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2010
Awesome! I was crazy about this! My husband and son really liked it too, but I'd have this every other day!! lol - I followed the recipe exact and put another package of crescent rolls on as a crust on top too. It filled the pan quite full so I put another pan beneath it and that was helpful because it did bubble over a little. I wouldn't change a thing, it was just so delicious!!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
10 stars! wow my whole family loved this! I actually made it for a work 'pot luck' and it went over very well, but after everyone at home smelled it cooking for hours I had to let them sample it, and we really loved it! I didn't alter it too much, I did add a 2nd kielbasa as many reviews recommended and there was still a lot of 'sauce', and I also added a 20oz can of pineapple chunks. With the confusion of the ketup amount I went with the 14oz, plenty! We'll be making this from time to time (just worried how much my husband loves it because he's diet-controlled diabetic).

Chicken Parmesan Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
Everyone really liked this, I think it needs a little something though, in the sauce anyway. I did fry the chicken as stated, and used whole wheat flour to coat the chicken but I think 1c of flour would have been plenty. The eggs I had were really large so I used 3, that was appropriate and the bread crumbs was closer to being the right amount - the garlic powder in the bread crumbs was a nice touch. We had whole wheat penne pasta, that worked out great. Everything else was good proportions, I think maybe sautéing onions and peppers, maybe even garlic as well to add to the sauce might be worth it. But over-all my family loved it and I will definitely make this again!

Vegetable Ham Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
This was delicous! I followed the recipe closely too. I used minced garlic instead of garlic powder, and I used 5c chicken broth instead of just water. I didn't add any sugar. I added whole wheat noodles at the end instead of the corn starch. It was very hearty and we all loved it!

Cherry Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
We liked this more than any of us expected, but I just had to try it because it sounded so interesting to me. We cooked this stovetop though in order to save time. We cooked the pork with garlic and onion. I did add allspice per a review, I had no idea what other spice might go with this and now I'd say it didn't need anything else other than a little salt and pepper. My husband and son liked it but got sick of the cherries and neither finished all the cherries they got with their serving but that's not bad in my opinion. We served this over whole wheat pasta buttered with a little garlic and parsley. We'll have this from time to time for variety.

Antipasto Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
More stars are needed for this! I made it exactly as written. I did bake the bottom layer of crescent rolls for 5 minutes before adding all the other ingredients because of comments of the bottom being soggy so I don't know if that was necessary however it came out terrific so it was worth doing. I also layed the strips of roasted peppers on a paper towel to minimize the moisture in the pan. Everyone really loved these, I wouldn't change a thing about the recipe!! Delicious!

Pasta With Spinach Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
Loved this! I used 1lb whole wheat spaghetti, added 1/2c wine and kept the liquid from the defrosted spinach as many suggested to make the sauce go further. We still had to add 1/2c milk to thin the sauce down but it was so delicous. We didn't change the recipe in any other way - it was so good!!!

Grill Master Chicken Wings

Perfect! We loved this so much! The only difference for us is we made this for chicken thighs instead of wings, but the Franks didn't make it too hot but perfectly flavorful - we only use Franks, it's the best!! Delicious, we'll make this regularly!!

Easy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
Super! everyone loved these! I didn't alter the recipe too much. I sauted onions & peppers to add to the mixture - about a half of each (half an onion, half a pepper). I used 2 packages of 2c mexican blend cheese, mixed one in the mixture, topped with the other package - plenty of cheese doing it that way which is 1c less than the recipe calls for. The only other changes were to add a homemade package of taco seasoning and I added 1/2jar of salsa to the mixture. We used whole wheat tortillas and they were so fantastic - everyone will bug me to make these again which I won't mind at all, they were fairly easy :)

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
We all loved this. I loved that it was all homemade and fresh ingredients. I made it stovetop only to serve in bread bowls. I took advice from others as well as adding a couple of items too. I needed a 2nd cup of broth as a result. We used heavy cream instead of milk (only to use it up). I did use the onion & celery as written but instead of frozen veggies I used diced carrot, diced zucchini, chopped broccoli and a couple potatoes diced as suggested. I followed the recipe otherwise and added celery seed and sage. Because it wasn't going in the oven I left it to simmer an addtional half hour. Everyone really loved this!!

Baked Zucchini de Provence

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
I thought these were pretty good, a lot better than plain zucchini for a nice change. I forgot to look for 'herbes de provence' so I will try this again with the right seasoning; I just used my own mix of Italian Seasoning from this site but everything else the same. I brushed on the oil rather than drizzle it. The topping was very tasty.

Italian Seasoning II

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
So convenient! As I'm getting ready to make another batch I realized I never rated this - this blend works very well for us. I mash all the ingredients with a ridged mortar and pestle set I have mainly because my husband doesn't like the texture of rosemary. I don't keep mine in a shaker, but by doing that you could easily store it that way (I just use a ziplock baggie and measure as needed).

Happy Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
Delicious! I didn't change it except for making more 'sauce' as many suggested. I used 3 tomatoes, added 2/3c heavy cream and 1/2c wine. We loved this! I was nervous to add too much cayenne but next time I'll use a little more, and a little more garlic. But the flavor was good, just could use a little extra. We had it over whole wheat spaghetti - fantastic! Definitely making this regularly!!
