Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
I loved this! No one else in my family would try it but they're not fans of bread pudding while I'm a huge fan of it. I gave some to my father-in-law to take home though, he'll like it. I used only 1c of the brown sugar but that's the only change I made. I'll make this again even if it's just for me :)

Apple-Raisin French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
We loved this - and it's hard for me to find a breakfast recipe that everyone will like. I did omit the raisins, and put the apple mixture on the top rather than on the bottom but otherwise I followed the recipe as written regarding measurements etc, we'll have this again!

Raspberry Ribbons

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Delicious - I was really afraid to make a log, so I made thumbprint cookies. They're delicious but my batch was not so pretty - the glaze was very wet, wetter than I realized so it was out of control trying to get it on the cookies - I should have added a little more conf.sugar but didn't realize the trouble until it was too late - but the taste is fantastic in spite of that :)

Mexican Wedding Cookies (Polvorones)

These are pretty good, I don't love them but my DH does. The conf. sugar didn't stick real well for me (certainly not like the picture but I'm not a pro with cookies either :)

Jan's Creamsicle Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
I love these! I made them for a work function, so I still need to get feedback from others because they are so different, but that's why I wanted to try them. I looked everywhere for orange cake mix but could not find it (maybe it's seasonal?) but I found a mix for Orange Cranberry Muffins that I tried this with. It came with a can of orange peel and cranberries that I didn't use, but I grated orange peel to make up for not being able to use that. Everything else the same. By my picture you'll see I'm not as talented as What's For Dinner Mom? and I need to master "dusting with the powdered sugar" but they are really tasty and I can't wait to share them! Oh ya, my son thinks they're great too! ~~UPDATE~~ everyone at the work function that I brought these to were fighting over these! No one wanted to pass the container to someone else, they all pretended to want to keep the rest for themselves :) These were the only dessert that disappeared!! It was fun and I was so pleased with the reactions from everyone!! GREAT COOKIES!!

Buffalo Chicken Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
Everyone loved this! Even my step son that does not care for spicy food had seconds! I followed the recipe exactly (for a change :) and we chose not to add blue cheese because DH doesn't care for it - it was excellent!! I love Franks though!! We did use whole wheat macaroni, and italian seasoned bread crumbs. I'm usually not a fan of Velveeta but this was just so good!!

Chinese Take-Out Shrimp with Garlic

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
I love this - I was truly crazy about it!! My DH liked it, and my step son did not (And i left out the red peppers in hopes that he'd like it - so next time I'll make it with the red pepper flakes too :) I used 1tbsp canola and 1tbsp sesame oil, yum! I didn't have fish sauce, so I used clam juice. Other than that I followed the recipe, well less garlic but will use a bit more next time too. Yum -thanks for a great recipe!

Beefy Baked Ravioli

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
Everyone really liked this - it was wonderfully quick and easy too. I like the blend of the cheeses. I did need to use about twice the sauce though - we like it saucey but twice as much didn't really make it too saucey, just right for us actually. Other than that we didn't change a thing. We'll have this again!

Spaghetti Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
This was really good - I printed this recipe when it listed 4c mozzarella and that's what we used. We didn't vary from the recipe otherwise. We did cook the pasta all the way figuring it would be necessary to keep it from being to crisp when it baked, and it kept a good texture - we added 2c mozzarella to the spaghetti, and topped with 2c then the pepperoni. I expected the guys would like it much more than I would, but I liked it much more than I expected and we'll have this again! Thank you Rob for sharing this recipe!

Jackie's Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
I made this a couple of weeks ago but just noticed I haven't rated it yet - it was great and easy, perfect combination in my opinion! I followed the recipe exact, except I believe the sausage I used was marked wrong, because this was spicy - the sausages had to be hot - DH, DS & I are ok with spicy, but not step-son. But that has nothing to do with the recipe, and we will have this again! **Update** I made this again last night with regular diced tomatoes (no chilis) I believe that's what made it too hot before, and I had tomato juice to use up so I used that (maybe 3c) and about 5c chicken broth to make the 8c, that's the only change and this is really just so good!

Yum! Very moist, a bit heavy but delicious! I did end up using 1/2c shortening and 1/2c butter but that's the only change I made to this recipe - I'll make this again!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
I loved this, my sons did too, DH not so much, but he's fussy so I'm not considering his opinion for how many stars to give this :) Followed recipe closely, used 1/2 the butter though and that's the only change I made. Very good recipe, will make this again!

New Orleans Corn Bisque with Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I loved this, DH thought it was missing something. I followed the recipe and added garlic. I used ww flour. I cooked the potatoes in 1tbsp butter over medium heat while preparing the rest of the recipe, and added them after the 10min simmer - worked out well. We did top with low fat cheddar, it was perfect on this!
