Maple Baked Pork Loin Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
I usually stay away from a pork roast or chops unless they're slow cooked and shredded. Pork is usually a very dry meat to me. Anyway, this recipe was easy and best of all, created a very moist, juicy and favorable meal. My advice on making this dish. 1) When it says a large piece of foil, it should be HUGE. My 4 lb roast could barely fit in a normal large sheet of aluminum foil, even if you tear a very long piece. Opening it at the end, like the recipe suggested, all of the juices ran out so make sure you put it on a rimmed baking sheet. 2) I followed the recipe. It makes a lot of sauce and I didn't want to serve the raw garlic sauce with the finished product. Make sure and capture those run off juices and pour over the meat once sliced. Other reviewers suggest cooking the left over sauce. That's probably a good idea if you want to use it, otherwise, I think the juices the roast cooks with is plenty. You can always decide once the roast is done. 3) Make sure you let the meat rest for a bit before slicing to keep all the juices from running out. Everyone liked this recipe and I'll make this again.

Ron's Bread Machine White

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
I've been trying to find a bread that is favorable, easy, and you can cut it. This bread was perfect. It didn't last the rest of the day. Friends came over and said it was the best 'non sourdough' bread they've ever had. I did add a Tablespoon of honey to the recipe, but kept everything else the same. I'll have to make another loaf in the morning.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I made this recipe but used others advise of using apple sauce (1/2 cup), reducing the brown sugar (1/2 cup), use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose and I added some ground flax seed (1/3 cup) instead of the wheat germ. I also baked them for a shorter period of time as others recommended (18 min). They did come out chewy (not crispy) and my family really liked them. This is a perfect basic recipe that SHOULD be modified according to your taste. For me, I'll be adding peanut butter and nuts and I'll bake them a little longer so they're just in between chewy and crunchy. 5 stars for providing a great base to start from.

Creamy Ham and Potato Soup

This recipe was excellent. I did use half and half instead of milk and used chicken broth instead of the water and granules. I will definitely make this again!

It was ok. Not my favorite but likely because of the dressing.

Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
Wow, I couldn't believe how many people loved this recipe. They come out incredibly chewy. I did flatten them with the glass, otherwise they were smaller and too puffy. I will definitely make this again. I'm going to try to substitute the butter for the applesauce next time to see how well it holds up. Thank you for a great cookie recipe using whole wheat flour!

Turkey Bow Tie Skillet

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
This was a pretty simple dish to make and I followed some of the suggestions along with adding my own. I had over a pound of ground turkey so I doubled the pasta, onion, celery, green pepper, garlic. I only used 1 can of diced tomatoes and I didn't add sugar but instead used a very high quality balsamic vinegar (1 Tb) and used more chili powder than the recipe calls for. I also added some red pepper flakes to give it a little kick. I did double the chicken broth but I doubled everything else (4 cups pasta). I would imagine if I had any more liquid, it would have been soupy. My family LOVED this dish. There were no leftovers! Very satisfying dish that is a healthy choice.
