Pork Chops with Apple Curry Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2005
I really just picked this out for my boyfriend because he loves pork chops with applesauce, and I do not like applesauce, but this recipe was very good. It was not sweet like I thought it would be. The curry was very interesting and a great ingredient to balance out the with the applesauce. I enjoyed the amount of sauce because it completely covered the pork chops in the dish as they were baking, although we did throw out a good bit of it after we ate. The pork chops were slightly overdone at 40 mins, so watch your cook times (and my pork chops were thicker than one inch). Will definitely make this again. May use a little more garlic next time also.

Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 25, 2005
This was so good. You really don't taste the brown sugar at all, which I prefer. My boyfriend made these for me and added Vidalia onions, mushrooms, red pepper, and green pepper to the skewer and served it over white rice. It was so good. (May make extra sauce next time to mix in with the rice.) I asked him to make me something creative, and he did.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
I thought this was a little bland, but I will probably make it again. I added extra ground pepper and onions than it called for. I brought it to a work lunch and everyone thought it was really good (there were no leftovers). Thanks.

Roast Leg of Lamb with Rosemary

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
This was just ok for me. I guess I thought that the marinade, because it was sweet and lemony, would be best on some other meat. I was hoping that the predominant flavors would be the dijon, rosemary, and garlic after it was cooked, but all I could taste was the honey and lemon which just seemed odd on lamb to me. Thanks anyways.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 9, 2005
I did not care for these cookies at all. I threw the first batch away and added a lot more sugar to the remaining dough, and they still came out very bland. Will not make again.

Stuffed Pepper Soup IV

Reviewed: May 9, 2005
I thought this recipe was good as a base for the soup. I added 2 tablespoons each of minced garlic, garlic powder, and italian seasonings. I also added 1 more can of chicken broth so that it would be less saucy and more like soup. I may add one extra bell pepper next time so that it is a more prominent ingredient, rather than a soup that happens to have peppers in it. Thanks for the recipe.

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: May 4, 2005
This recipe was very good, very easy (mostly canned vegetables mixed together), and makes a lot of salsa. This is perfect for parties. I only gave it four stars because, even after all of the ingredients were added, it was still a little bland and not as spicy as I had hoped. I added a little more garlic salt, about a tablespoon of fresh ground pepper, a tablespoon of cilantro, and a tablespoon of lime juice. I also served it with lime tortilla chips. Will definately make this again with these additions. Thanks.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: May 4, 2005
This recipe was so interesting and so easy. I loved it. I doubled up on the Frank's buffalo red hot sauce and probably will double up on the (fresh) chicken next time also. If I don't double up on the chicken and hot sauce (for a smaller crowd), I may just go for one 8oz of cream cheese vs. two because this makes a huge batch as is. This is perfect for parties. I brought it to a work birthday party today and as I write this review, people are coming in my office to get the recipe, haha.

Chipotle Peach Salsa with Cilantro

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2005
I actually switched this recipe up quite a bit, but what I put together was great, so I'll give this recipe the credit for that and 5 stars. I made this with mango and chipotle powder, since I had that on hand. I spread it over chicken and baked it for 40 mins. It was great. Thanks.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2005
It doesn't get any easier than this recipe... and soooo good! I added 2 cups of colby jack cheese, 1 extra can of chicken broth, 2 cups (cooked) brown rice, 4 tablespoons fresh ground pepper, and a 1 oz bunch of fresh chopped cilantro. Makes plenty for leftovers.

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
This recipe has been sitting in my recipe box for a while and I wish I had made it sooner. It is so easy and delicious. I seasoned both sides of the chicken, baked it for 30 mins, added the extra garlic powder and lime juice, and baked for another 5 minutes. I may cut back on the salt a bit next go around.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

This recipe was great. I overcooked mine slightly at 60 mins; I should have checked it sooner as the recipe stated, but it was still very good and I can't wait to try it again.

Easy Sausage Cheese Balls

This recipe was easy and great. I used a mixer to combine 2 pounds of sausage, 3 cups of cheese, 1 cup of baking mix, and about 2-3 tablespoons of hot pepper sauce (ex. Tabasco).

Sunshine Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2005
This was easy and great. It amazing how much they can charge for this in diners; its just a piece of bread and an egg, haha. My boyfriend made this for me, and he says that it was amazing because he is such a good cook; I'm sure that is the reason I loved it.

Jambalaya II

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2005
I thought this recipe was outstanding. My boyfriend was wow'ed by it. I used two large chicken breasts, cubed, and simmered them in a small amount of chicken broth. I baked the sausage in the oven for about 20 mins and added both to the spicy vegetables. I cooked the rice (I used long grain brown rice) separately in chicken broth and used about a tablespoon of each of the spicy ingredients in addition to 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning. Excellent.

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2005
This recipe was a hit at Easter dinner. I made this with a side of "Wasabi - Jalapeno Sauce" (also from this site). This was hard to form into patties, so I actually used Stove Top stuffing instead of bread crumbs and doubled up on the amount.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2005
This recipe was great. I added in a 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream and it was amazing! I also used a little extra salt, oregano and added in some garlic powder to the flour mixture. So good! Next time, I may add in some sauteed onion rings and use less butter.

I used this recipe as a general guideline. I added a side of spinach leaves and used a store bought greek feta dressing instead of making my own. Very good.

Bella's Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2005
This recipe was easy and delicious. I used 4 tablespoons of butter and only 1 tablespoon of oil (vs. 3 and 3). I used extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable and also added in 3 tablespoons of minced garlic. Very good.
