As I mentioned previously in my last blog one of my favorite “trips down memory lane” was baking with my Grandmother. She made some of the most wonderful tea biscuits but no one ever thought to write down the recipe. She had it tucked away in her head able to pull it from her memory any time she MORE

About this Cook
I got into cooking and baking as a way to relax. I recently got married and this site is a life saver!! Now I don't have to leaf through recipe books. Everything is right here in one spot. I used to watch both my grandmothers and they could come up with just about anything! I don't have a lot of their old recipes, but I have been able to find similar things on this site. My Grandma Helen was a phenomenal baker and my Grandma Jean is still one of the best cooks I know. My husband is eternally grateful for their influence.
My favorite things to cook
Buffalo Wings - Our neighbors can't get enough! I won't be posting that recipe on this site. It's a secret I'll take to the grave!!! They're that good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey at Thanksgiving!!!
My cooking triumphs
Making spaghetti sauce for the first time. I thought it was something only my mother could do - but, it turned out fantastic!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I attempted a potatoe casserole using all fat free ingredients - it was absolutely disgusting! It had a horrible aftertaste and ended up right in the garbage.

Asian Noodles
Overall, very tasty and a great base to adjust to suite your tastes. I used angel hair pasta and sauteed my veggies with a little garlic. I also used low sodium soy sauce and opted for sesame oil vs. veg. oil. I also added a little sugar to the "dressing" and tossed to coat. I topped it with chopped green onion and toasted sesame seeds.

Bright and Zesty Broccoli
Very nice change from regular 'ol broccoli! I wasn't sure about the flavor combinaton, but the orange did add a nice citrus flavor that did "brighten" it up a bit. To simply things, I used a steam in bag of broccoli and added the rest of the ingredients, tossing to coat. Overall, different but good.

Grilled Pork Tenderloins
Delicious marinade with a wonderful Asian flair! I cut the recipe in half and used low sodium soy sauce, 1/4 tsp. of powdered ginger along with one Tbsp. of sesame oil. I used this on thick cut pork chops that I pierced with a fork and put into a ziploc bag along with the marinade. I let everything go overnight - didn't bother reserving marinade for basting as the flavor really came through due to the long marinade time. Overall, very tasty!
