Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2007
This was a great recipe, I will make it again! I only added a few teaspoons of sugar though and it still tasted great. Next time I will use olive oil instead of regular vegetable oil and see how that tastes. This would also be a great marinade over cold pasta salads too!

Classic Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Very good, but make sure to use the yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes. I used the whiteish ones, and while they tasted good, they looked unappetizing.

Grilled Potato Wedges with Malt Vinegar-Tarragon Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
This is a really great recipe for the dip! Watch the vinegar though, because it quickly goes from reducing to being burnt sludge on the bottom of the pan. I love mayonnaise, but next time I'll make it a little healthier--1 cup mayo and 1/2 cup fat free sour cream.

Grilled Asparagus with Roasted Garlic Toast and Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2008
This is a recipe I will use a lot this summer for summer grilling! I did the garlic on the barbecue while I had other stuff cooking in double-lined foil packets and olive oil. When I did the asparagus I put them in foil packets on the grill, I don't have a veggie basket and I didn't want them falling in because I used skinny asparagus. They were done to perfection in less than 10 minutes--those suckers cook fast!

Made these for a barbecue and I didn't have any left over. They smelled great too!

Chinese Cold Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
Great flavor, but I had it warm rather than cold. It was a little too hot for me though, I think next time I'll use 1/2 the amount of crushed red pepper, it's safer to let people add more after the fact than try to tone it down. I also used a little fresh ginger in the sauce, excellent!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
I was really against making these, because my go-to oatmeal raisin cookie recipe is Betty Crocker and it's awesome. But, I thought I would give this one a try for something different. It turned out great! Just out of curiousity, I looked at the recipe next to the Betty Crocker, the only difference was BC doesn't have cloves! Ha ha, go figure, right? Anyway, still a great cookie!

Spanish-Style Quinoa

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
The flavor was good, but there was way too much liquid in this. I'd reduce the water to 1 1/2 cups, and use broth instead of water.

Berry Lemon Mousse Parfait

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
This was great--and I have to say the one time I'm sorry I listened to the reviews rather than the recipe. I double the amount of whipping cream, afraid there wouldn't be enough for 6 parfaits. Not only did I have enough, but it was way too much! You don't want a ton of whipped cream, it should be mostly fruit I think! Regardless, they were still delicious with the lemon taste! As a side note people enjoyed putting the whipped cream on their coffee for brunch!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Be sure to let the chocolate mixture cool or temper the eggs, or you will get cooked eggs in your mixture. I baked these for 30 minutes and they came out perfect.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
I followed several user suggestions to get this perfect. I used four cloves of garlic and made sure to mix in the mozzarella cheese rather than put it on top. I added about 1/2 cup of sour cream to the mixture too because I used a full (frozen) box of spinach.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
Whoops! I accidentally added a teaspoon of curry because I wasn't paying attention. I still added the cumin though, what could it hurt, right? This was delicious! I diced and added half a red pepper for some color, and served it in fresh tortillas.

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
I made this in a bundt pan, and the baking time should've been closer to 55 minutes. Otherwise, it smelled wonderful and was a tasty, moist cake. I used four apples. I also made the caramel glaze suggested by naples.

This is a very thin batter, but bakes up beautifully. I made cupcakes, and substituted a cup of hot coffee for the water.

This is such an easy and great recipe. Can't believe I hadn't made it this way before. For my second batch, I added some strawberries I pureed. This one is a keeper.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 23, 2012
I too used half butter, half shortening. This was a LOT of frosting. I had enough to generously frost 24 cupcakes with some left over.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
I used this as a marinade for bone-in pork chops for 24 hours, only I didn't have the smoke flavoring. I literally had people licking the bones the sauce was that good! I put the leftover sauce in a pan, and brought it to a simmer. I barbecued the chops and used the sauce to baste every time I turned. I will use this recipe again, next time I'll use fresh garlic though.
