Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2014
OMG these were easily the best ribs I've ever had. I followed the recipe exactly. I made them in conjunction with the BBQ spice rub from this site and they were to die for!!! This is the only rib recipe I will use. I even bought less expensive spare ribs (half the price of baby back) and by the time they were done the bones could be pulled out easily without a fleck of meat on them. THAT'S what you call a great rib. Flavors taste great and they smell incredible. Take a while, but it's mostly just letting them cook in the oven, and these are well worth the wait. Awesome recipe, thanks so much for sharing!!

Chili Dog Casserole II

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2014
This was okay, and certainly easy to make, but I felt it was lacking something. With some adjustments I think it'd be better.

French Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: May 6, 2014
These were edible, but lacked any real flavor. The only flavor came from the cinnamon sugar coating. I served them with butter, which made them a bit better, but I was a bit disappointed in the outcome. Followed the recipe exactly. Probably won't make again.

Apple Cinnamon White Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2014
I've been baking my way through different apple cakes trying to find a recipe worth keeping. Unfortunately this wasn't it. The baking time was off, and once the cake was done it just wasn't all that good. Not dry, so it wasn't overcooked, just a little...bland. Nothing spectacular, I probably won't make again.

Baked Tofu Bites

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2014
I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. I had never cooked with tofu before, but I know it's healthy and a good meat substitution, so I decided to give it a try. I had low expectations, as did my mom (she's always been leery of tofu) but when I made it we were both standing over the pan munching on it right out of the oven. The texture can take a little getting used to, but the flavor is great and it went together very quickly. A great way to try out a new food, and something I'll definitely be making again.

BBQ Chicken Calzones

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2014
Delicious!! I made smaller "hand-held" calzones to serve, and they were great. I accidentally forgot to include cheese in half of them (OOPS!!) but they still turned out fantastic. Super simple, tasty recipe.

Campbell's Pizza Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
I saw this recipe and decided to give it a whirl because, why not? Pizza and burgers are both delicious, maybe combining them would make something amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't think so. The burgers came out moist, but they were almost meatloaf-like in their texture, and one of mine even started falling apart in the pan. They cooked up easily enough, but when I took a bite the spaghetti sauce tasted a bit off with the burger flavor. It was a bit too saucy for me, and that was almost all I could taste. They were edible, just not really my cup of tea. It was basically Chicken parm with a burger instead. You'd be better off just sticking with chicken. Interesting concept, but it fell flat with my family.

Basic Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
These are by far the best biscuits I've attempted so far. Like others I had some trouble with mine rising, but I think that has to do with personal error rather than anything in the recipe. Biscuits can be so finicky. Even though mine failed to rise much, they still tasted great. I can see these being delicious with sausage gravy or even with some butter and jam for breakfast. I'll definitely be trying these again. Hopefully I can get them to rise a bit more!

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
Great easy marinade. I let my marinate for 24 hours and it made the chicken so tender and deliciously flavorful. I cooked it on a grill pan on my stove because it was pouring outside, but it still came out great. I bet on a grill it would taste even better. I'll be saving this one for the future.

Monte Cristo Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
A very easy, basic Monte Cristo sandwich recipe. I agree with others that it might be better served at dinner. For those who said it was messy, you could try serving it as an open faced sandwich. I've had it served this way at restaurants before and it makes it a bit easier to eat. This was a simple meal to toss together when I was short on time. The flavors go together well in my opinion, but I could understand how the French-toast flavors might not be a favorite of some. Still, it's a fun sandwich to try.

Espinacas con Garbanzos (Spinach with Garbanzo Beans)

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2014
I followed this recipe exactly as written and I thought this turned out pretty tasty. I can see myself playing around with the spices a little bit to try something new. The chickpeas and spinach go well together, and it's certainly healthier than some other side dishes. I think I'll be making this again.

Bundt Dutch Apple Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2014
Very dry and not much flavor. The cooking time is way too long, I cooked less than 70 minutes and it still came out super dry. Even if it hadn't been overbaked, the cake lacked any real flavor. Very bland. The apple filling was tasty, but it left a weird texture to the bread surrounding it, not really moist, but more soggy. Won't make again.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2014
Very simple, tasty recipe. Easy to throw together after a long day at work. I used thinly sliced pork chops and was able to skip the oven step. they were thin enough that they cooked quickly on the stovetop. Nice basic recipe that can be tweaked with a few seasonings if you'd prefer.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2014
I made this because I had some extra stewed tomatoes I wanted to use up. It was alright. It had a little bit more bite than I was expecting, between the vinegar, tomatoes, and chili powder. Definitely an easy dish to make. Nothing wrong with it, just not my favorite. Probably won't make again.

Sweet Honey French Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
WONDERFUL. I prepared the dough in my bread machine, and then took others' suggestions and baked it in the oven. When it was done rising in the machine, I thought it seemed like it would yield a very small loaf, but it rose beautifully and filled an 8x4 pan quite nicely. I baked it at 375 for about 20 minutes and it came out golden brown. I worried that it would end up being rock hard (an issue I frequently have when baking bread) but it was perfect. Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. The honey gave it just the right hint of sweetness without being overbearing. This will be my go-to basic French bread recipe from now on. Next time I'll double the recipe to yield a larger loaf.

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
This was a super tasty recipe. Maybe it was just me, but mine came out a little more liquidy than I thought it would, so eating it with a spoon became a necessity. However, the next day I reheated the leftovers and we ate it by scooping it up with leftover tortilla chips and it was AWESOME. I think next time I'll leave out the bottom chip layer and just serve it dip-style. Very tasty and a nice alternative to the usual tacos. Would be great to serve this way to a crowd.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
I would give this 10 stars if I could. Absolutely delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, except scaled it back to only make one pie, and subbed in light whipped topping and light cream cheese. This pie was AMAZING. I let it set up in the fridge (didn't really want a frozen dessert) and it turned out beautifully. The flavor is incredibly rich, and it's really dangerous how easily this pie can be thrown together. If you're looking for a super yummy dessert that doesn't require baking, this is it.

Taco Bean Burgers

I consider this more of a variation on a sloppy joe than a true "burger", but still super easy and delicious.
