About this Cook
My name is Jeanna. I am by no means a great cook! I enjoy cooking - I hate the clean up --- here enters my husband :) We have a deal who ever cooks cleans what they can while cooking and the rest gets cleaned by those who are served. We think its pretty fair. The nice things is we try to do a lot of the cooking together. Right now I am looking into more of the Mediterranean cooking as I have Lupus SLE, and I have read that this food type does a lot of good for inflammation and is very healthy. I also enjoy facebook - you can find me there as well.
My favorite things to cook
Anything new! Trying new things is fun and exciting to me. My son is allergic to wheat to wheat free baking is a challenge right now. Slow Cooker recipes are also a favorite and anything that I can involve my kids in.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My nana is actually the one who cooked in our family. So all of my cooking memories are about her. Sugar cookies especially. She would bake them at least 2x a week for my granddad. She new her recipe by heart. She tried to tell it to me and I wrote it down, but its still never been the same. I mess with it here and there. Maybe someday they will be just as good.
My cooking triumphs
I consider a triumph anything that I can make that EVERYONE in the house can agree on!
My cooking tragedies
I don't know... I will have to think on it and choose one...

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup
This was fantastic! I have never made beans or black bean soup before so I followed recipe exactly. We ate this with white rice, sour cream, shredded cheese and homemade and homemade corn tortilla (we used tortillas instead of untensils). It was delicious! I can see how others will change it up as a great base soup, but I found it fantastic as is. My husband loved it. It is spicey and not for those who don't enjoy a little kick. Thank you for sharing this!

Spiced Pears and Pomegranate
This was so yummy! My 9 year daughter and I made it together. Its truly that easy! Great flavors! We actually used an orange from our orange tree and pomegranates from our tree. We substituted the lemon juice juice with orange juice because we didn't have any lemons and it was wonderful! This is definitely going to be a staple in our house!

Lebanese Fattoush
This was excellent! I actually toasted the pita rounds and cut them into fours. we piled the fattoush on top and used the pitas as scoops. It was wonderful! Some Fattoush is more 'simple' in its ingredients, but I feel this one was very good and each ingredient complimented another in its own way. I recommend giving it a try!
