About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I bounce back and forth between really heathly fare, (experimenting with raw foods, juicing, incorporating lots of new veggies) and yummy, fattening comfort foods like sausage gravy and buscuits, chicken and dumplings, bbq ribs and pot roast. I think the comfort foods win out more often, though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandfather was from Italy, so his traditional Spaghetti and Meatballs is my ultimate favorite. Our Christmas Eve tradtion is Spaghetti and Anchovies, which has also been an interesting way to initiate new family members!
My cooking triumphs
Many of my cooking triumphs are a result of experimenting with recipes from this site. Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies is one that come to mind.
My cooking tragedies
I've chosen to block cooking tragedies from my memory. They just don't end up in my recipe file. But the one that has always stuck was my first baking experience with my Betty Crocker Oven when I was about five or six. I can still remember the taste of those awful, burnt cookies and how I felt when I handed one to the little neighbor boy through the fence and he told me they were terrible. Oh well. It sure didn't keep me from trying again and baking is now one my favorite things to do.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
These are officially my favorite cookies! LOVE this recipe! I never have shortening in the house, so I just use all butter. Bake them on parchment paper for 9 - 10 minutes. They look undone in the middle when I take them out of the oven, but they always end up perfectly crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle. I use Craisins instead of raisins, and also add chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, walnuts, and chopped candied ginger pieces. Ultimate YUMness!!! Thanks, Beth!

Easy Lemon Cookies
Wonderful! My husband (not a big sweets eater) REALLY enjoyed them! Definitely a keeper.

Savory Crescent Chicken
Good, but a little bland. Would be better with some spinach and extra seasoning.
