Kowloon's Chinese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2015
These were really good, but I boiled down the marinade and put some more on top before baking them (400 for 45 minutes) and I think that made them extra salty. My fault. I grew up on Kowloons wings, and I love them (OMG Saugus Wings!). I think next time I will make them without the salt, double the ginger, throw a handful of garlic in, and maybe use brown sugar instead of white. I know this changes the whole recipe, but hey, the heart wants what it wants.

Smokey Chipotle Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2015
Good, I only used 1 pepper, and I thought that was enough. I used bread crumbs instead of oatmeal. Will use more next time.

Mama's Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2014
This is amazing! I do have to admit that I've never had wedding soup before, but if this is it, then i love it! I used a whole bag of frozen chopped spinach because we love spinach, and I browned the meatballs just because, but that's all I did differently. I was surprised that a soup with so little seasoning had so much flavor! I'm making it again tonight!

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2014
Very good, but I took everyone's suggestions. I used diced tomatoes, marinated artichoke and most of the marinade, doubled the garlic, used a whole onion (oops), and accidentally added some red pepper when I grabbed the wrong bottle (it was still great) and added cream. The sauce tasted great was a bit thin, probably because I didn't have real cream and used half and half. But it still tasted great so I'm keeping it.

Fast Chicken Soup Base

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2014
This was fantastic! I made it pretty much according to the recipe, although I probably used more carrots and celery. I didn't measure. I didn't used water because i like it strong. I'm using 2 48oz broth boxes. And I forgot to add noodles. It was so good I didn't realize it until I went back for seconds and saw the bag sitting next to the stove. Oh well, next time. It's the first chicken soup recipe I've tried, and this is exactly what I wanted. 2nd time - I added about a tsp of black pepper and about 1/2 tsp white pepper, still no noodles. Next time I think I'll simmer the bones longer and see what happens.

Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2013
The flavor was perfect, but 3 cups of water is way too much. I used 2 cups and about 3 1/2 cups of pasta and it was still a little soupy. Next time I'm thinking 1 cup of water and about 2 1/2 cups of pasta. But seriously, incredible flavor, and super easy to make. A total keeper.

Spicy Beef Curry Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2013
This was really good. We had it with rice, but I might try it with mashed potatoes next time. I did the canned diced tomatoes with jalapenos already in them. I might add more plain tomatoes next time - the flavor was great but the tomatoes just looked so lonely in there. I always add extra garlic and I didn't really measure the ginger. I didn't bother pre-cooking the meat either. I never do - I find it comes out more tender. Really great flavor.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 7, 2013
I used frozen peppers and onions, as suggested. I didn't have lemon pepper seasoning, and I don't think I was missing anything either. I nearly doubled the cajun (we like it spicy), and apparently I didn't read the directions very well because I added ALL the seasonings to the chicken before I cooked it up, but it still came out amazing.

Bread Machine Pumpernickel Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
Excellent. Made exactly as is, and used blackstrap molasses - I will let it sit for a few minutes in the machine after it's done so it can "finish" because the middle was under-cooked, but otherwise it was amazing.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
This was fantastic. My only change was using this morning's coffee instead of water and instant coffee granules. I will absolutely make this again, but I think my breadmaker can make at least 1.5 times this recipe, if not more, so next time I will try that. *** I've made this a few times now, and I always use the morning coffee, and I've been making a 1.5 loaf batch (12 servings) also, I've been adding a heaping spoonful of vital wheat gluten. This makes it so fluffy and amazing. We love it.

Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
Wonderful! Although I prefer my meat a little rare so next time I'll take it out around 110 I think. It was a light pink in the middle and grey around the edges at 125, so a bit medium for my preference, but still so juice and delicious. By the way, I cooked it at 460 for 12 minutes as suggested by many others, and then it took about 2 hours at 325 before it got to 125 degrees. I had a 4 pound rib roast, so I really expected it to be faster.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2013
This was fantastic - and I usually don't like asparagus! I was looking for a good recipe because my husband likes it so much, and I will be making this again. This is similar to how I fry up my green beans, so I'll be making them this way as well.

Slow Cooker Chicken Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
I made it almost as is - I chopped up the chicken, added more garlic, and after tasting the sauce I added some oregano and black pepper. It was OK, but just OK. I think kids would love it but I guess we're used to meals with a bit more flavor.

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
This was wonderful. I doubled the marinade because I had some extra chicken. I added extra garlic, and put the lemon juice in with the marinade. I sauteed the onion and pepper, then added the chicken and marinade and boiled it all down a bit. This is such a keeper.

Chicken and Bowtie Pasta with Asiago Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2012
This was excellent. Next time I will use the entire package of mushrooms - why not? I also used at least double the amount of prosciutto (I had a package to use up), and it was still delicious.

I used a fry daddy and these came out great. I doubled the garlic and ginger, used coleslaw mix and added bean sprouts, and sauteed it with soy sauce. These were fantastic and I will be making them again.
