About a year ago I was browsing the web for recipes and came across the site 100 Days of Real Food.  At the point I saw this, my kitchen was very much like most people in the country.  There were weeks (sometimes months) I relied on frozen meals, little debbies, Gardettos and canned soup … MORE

About this Cook
I am a part time home maker, and part time employee in my husband's home business. We entertain a lot, and play host to many of his employees and business partners, which gives me a lot of opportunity to try new things and improve upon my cooking skills. We are on a tight budget, and improvising is a necessity in my kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook pretty much anything. I love to experiment and make something out of nothing. Pizzas seem to be my specialty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Outdoor grilling in the summer. Also old family recipes like Spaghetti & Meatballs, Meat Loaf, Mashed Potatoes and Potato Salad.
My cooking triumphs
Bavarian Apple Torte will always be one of my favorites. Also, any time I can perfectly cook a piece of meat is a grand accomplishment!
My cooking tragedies
I blame everything on the oven.

The Best Lemon Bars
These were lovely. I made exactly according to recipe and they came out beautifully. The perfect crust to lemon curd ratio.

Low Fat Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
This was excellent. Just like my grandma made for her restaurant that I have missed for years. Bottled is nothing compared to this. I didn't use low fat anything (except for the buttermilk)...I used 1 tsp. dried dill and 2 tsp. dried parsley since I didn't have fresh on hand. Just wonderful and loved by all who tried it. I will make my own from now on instead of purchasing bottled. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Lucky's Quickie Chickie
Lucky this is soooo yummy! Thanks for sharing it! I baked some chicken drumsticks with just salt and pepper on them. I tripled the the sauce and just whisked it up in a bowl. In the last 10 minutes of baking the chicken I just brushed the sauce on evenly, then poured the rest over the drummies. Topped with fresh basil once out of the oven. Soooo good, DH loved it too. I will be making again, and using the sauce to spin wings in! :)
