About this Cook
I'm an avid Husker football fan who loves to cook. I tend to view most (but not all) recipes as general guides & like to take recipes & make them my own by varying the ingredients. Sometimes this works, sometimes I end up dumping the food onto the compost heap!!
My favorite things to cook
I'll try any recipe at least once. See my reviews for recipes that I have tried!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother loves to cook & she was the one who taught me how to cook & I'm teaching my children how to cook.
My cooking triumphs
Made microwaved bread once & only once as a teenager. Mixed it up somewhat like regular bread, but "baked" it in my mother's microwave. Can't remember the ingredients or times, etc. to this day!
My cooking tragedies
Was a newlywe cooking my 1st EVER Thanksgiving meal totally on my own ... turkey blackl & burnt on the outside, bloody red raw on the inside. Followed mom's "advice" & cooked turkey at 450ยบ for 1 hr with no tinfoil or basting, nada! Found out mom was joking. :-} Thanks mom! :P

Cauliflower with Dijon Sauce
Didn't care for this. Followed the directions exactly & it ended up as a mushy mess with clumps of gobby cheese all over. Will try this again using melted butter instead of mayo, which might help the dijon spread easier...

Scotch Broth I
Added about 3 times the peppercorns the second time I made this to help bump up the spiciness. I also added about a tsp of salt. All in all a nice, simple yet tasty soup.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ
Tried this as written & will use again & again just the way it is! I did reserve some of the juices from the crock pot when shredding & it make it even juicier!! Delicious!
