Garlic Bread Fantastique

This will be my house garlic bread from now on! I made mostly as written (ommiting the salt), but it made a lot of the butter spread... I would recommend not using it all, as it made the bread a little greasy and soggy. Use just enough to cover the bread, and it turns out crispier. A great taste, and the recipe was requested!

Date Nut Bars

I got this recipe from my mother-in-law upon request from my husband- he won't have a Christmas without them! I couldn't find the recipe this year, thanks for posting it. These bars are perfect exactly as is, no modifications necessary!

My Potatoes

This recipe was simple and very good. I cut the slices about 1/4 inch, and melted the butter to pour on top. I then added a layer of dried parsley and a thin layer of seasoned salt. Came out great- no leftovers! This is very easy to adapt, also- sprinkle with Italian herbs and Parmesan, or any other combo that goes with your meal. This will probably become an easy weeknight side at our house.

Oklahoma Comfort Food: Brats, Cabbage and Green Bean Casserole

This recipe was pretty good. It is more of a stew than a casserole. I made a few changes: I used one bottle of beer instead of water, I added garlic to the onion sautee, and I added a chipotle seasoning as other reviewers said it needed something. I also cooked it covered, since it didn't seem to be cooking the brats well with the lid off. I would make it again, we are a family that loves brats and we're always looking for something a little different!

Pepe Vandel's Spaghetti Sauce

This is a great, easy pasta sauce. I added mushrooms, and didn't put the spices in until I took it off the stove (to avoid cooking out the flavor.) I also used more garlic, because I'm a big fan of garlic. We will make this again!

Barley Burger Stew

My whole family loved this recipe! I added some cheese to each serving, and it was like a cheeseburger stew. Warm and hearty. I used 1/4 tsp of salt, and it could have used maybe a little spice, maybe try some italian seasoning next time. I will make this again- my family will insist on it!

French Toast Stars

Wow, my entire family told me this was the best breakfast they had ever had! Granted, I have not experimented with french toast recipes very much, but this one is a fantastic starting point. The orange flavor really came out. I used King's Hawaiian bread, and cut it fairly thick. Next time, I would double the egg mixture- I never have enough to do all my bread, but maybe I just cut it too thick. The orange and honey do sink to the bottom a bit, but I had my son whisk it between every few slices. The last two still came out very orangey, but still fantastic! Will definitely make this again.

Hearty Vegetable Lasagna

We all really liked this. Even my five-year old ate it, even though I added a couple cups of spinach we had on hand! It is very filling and easy to make. We will keep this recipe.

Mad Hatter Salad

This was wonderful. I made it for a tailgate, and just kept separate ziplock bags for the coleslaw mixture/ dressing/ dry ingredients. I mixed them when it was time to serve, and I got rave reviews!

Baked Chicken on Rice

It was very tasty. As per other reviewers, I used one can Cream of Mushroom, one can Cream of Celery, and only used the one packet of dry soup mix. It was slightly dry; I will make this again, but next time will add more milk or and maybe a touch of sherry.

Butternut Squash with Onions and Pecans

This recipe received the highest reviews from my DH (who grew up hating squash) and 5-yr old son (who has never shown an interest.) DH told me "Never change a thing!" The crunch of the pecans, sweetness of the sauteed onions and slight contrast of parsely were perfect. It was cooked *slightly* unevenly, which I take credit for not stirring very often, but no one even cared about the 1/8 slightly harder pieces. Not only will I make this again, I won't change a thing and have been threatened if I *don't* make it again!

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Best Ever Caramel Apple Crisp

Candy Bar Brownies

I'm a brownie lover, and this is my new recipe! It takes a little longer because of the double baking, but it's well worth it. I'd use a little less Snickers next time, and can't wait to experiment with other candy bars!

Pasta Primavera with Smoked Gouda

Fantastic. I made it with red peppers subbed for the green, and half of the red pepper flakes called for (my family likes less heat.) The only problem was that it never thickened up at all for me, but that just gave me a broth to dip the Italian bread in! The smoked Gouda was an unexpected flavor that really brought it all together. I will definitely make this again. Chocked full of veggies, and my kids inhaled it!!
