Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Tomato

This macaroni and cheese is the only one my kids beg for! I add one can of diced tomatoes, and always use sharp cheddar. To make it a meal in itself, I add one diced cooked ham steak before baking.

Mom's Chicken Cacciatore

Cashew Crusted Chicken

Very kid-friendle; my picky two-year old inhaled it! I accidentally bought orange marmelade instead of the apricot preserves, and it still came out very well.

Candy Bar Brownies

I'm a brownie lover, and this is my new recipe! It takes a little longer because of the double baking, but it's well worth it. I'd use a little less Snickers next time, and can't wait to experiment with other candy bars!

Pepe Vandel's Spaghetti Sauce

This is a great, easy pasta sauce. I added mushrooms, and didn't put the spices in until I took it off the stove (to avoid cooking out the flavor.) I also used more garlic, because I'm a big fan of garlic. We will make this again!

Barley Burger Stew

My whole family loved this recipe! I added some cheese to each serving, and it was like a cheeseburger stew. Warm and hearty. I used 1/4 tsp of salt, and it could have used maybe a little spice, maybe try some italian seasoning next time. I will make this again- my family will insist on it!

Best Ever Caramel Apple Crisp

This was excellent. I used a 9x13 pan, and store-bought caramel. Next time, I think I will add raisins or something for contrast. Great recipe, I will make it again.

Date Nut Bars

I got this recipe from my mother-in-law upon request from my husband- he won't have a Christmas without them! I couldn't find the recipe this year, thanks for posting it. These bars are perfect exactly as is, no modifications necessary!

Slow-Cooked Chili

This chili was very good and adaptable for a crowd. It didn't have much heat, so I put out a bottle of hot sauce for everyone to spice to their taste. I added a can of corn and the half-can of beer suggested in another review. I will make this again, but will probably add another can of beans.

Butternut Squash with Onions and Pecans

This recipe received the highest reviews from my DH (who grew up hating squash) and 5-yr old son (who has never shown an interest.) DH told me "Never change a thing!" The crunch of the pecans, sweetness of the sauteed onions and slight contrast of parsely were perfect. It was cooked *slightly* unevenly, which I take credit for not stirring very often, but no one even cared about the 1/8 slightly harder pieces. Not only will I make this again, I won't change a thing and have been threatened if I *don't* make it again!

Baked Chicken on Rice

It was very tasty. As per other reviewers, I used one can Cream of Mushroom, one can Cream of Celery, and only used the one packet of dry soup mix. It was slightly dry; I will make this again, but next time will add more milk or and maybe a touch of sherry.

My Potatoes

This recipe was simple and very good. I cut the slices about 1/4 inch, and melted the butter to pour on top. I then added a layer of dried parsley and a thin layer of seasoned salt. Came out great- no leftovers! This is very easy to adapt, also- sprinkle with Italian herbs and Parmesan, or any other combo that goes with your meal. This will probably become an easy weeknight side at our house.

Garlic Bread Fantastique

This will be my house garlic bread from now on! I made mostly as written (ommiting the salt), but it made a lot of the butter spread... I would recommend not using it all, as it made the bread a little greasy and soggy. Use just enough to cover the bread, and it turns out crispier. A great taste, and the recipe was requested!

Blueberry Crisp II

This is an extremely easy recipe with most of the ingredients things I had on hand. As another reviewer suggested, I changed the topping a little; I used 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar, and added a little (1/4 stick) butter. Next time I make this (and I will!) I will add something to the blueberries themselves; maybe a pinch of nutmeg or a little sugar. The topping was great, but the blueberries needed just a little something more.
