43, electrical and computer engineering degree-holding stay home mother of two. Enjoy anything that involves being outside and am just learning that the awesome responsibility of taking care of my family involves cooking healthy appetizing meals and snacks.
My favorite things to cook
I like baking, making comfort food occassionally like for holidays, but primarily I see food as an escape from my dull mundane life. Let's spice it up, let's eat some brilliant combination like the reuben sandwich. I love the simplicity of soups and salads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a RPCV (returned Peace Corps Volunteer) I fantasize about wandering through the third world eating street food.
My cooking triumphs
I do well at Thanksgiving, even making my own butter, but my husband's family refuse to partake in our meal. Oh well. For Easter we now christen the grill my making barbeque ribs which we have mastered with a 3 day process of boiling, marinating, roasting, and then day of grilling and a very basic potato salad that blows people away.
My cooking tragedies
I fail at cooking many things that seem delicious that no one in my family will eat. Then I force myself to eat the remainder. Recent failures: fruit salad made from blueberries and nectarines, zuccinni bread with white chocolate chips.
