I am married with 2 great children! I also work full time. BUSY is the best way to describe my life - HECTIC works well, too! Was a Navy brat as a child, so I have had the pleasure of eating some foods that the locals in my hometown aren't familiar with.
My favorite things to cook
My fave foods are Italian, mexican, and Southern (of course!). My fave to cook are down home, easily prepared and great tasting! If a recipe fits in that category, I am all for trying it! Thanksgiving and Christmas is my time to really get down in the kitchen - There is just really something about the holidays that makes me want to get in there and COOK!! The kids circle like sharks when the hear the pans rattling!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is the BEST cook ever - I do try to duplicate her food. All my holiday foods are her recipes. And a lot of my day to day stuff is her's too. Nothing new for me to call her up and ask her how to make something!
My cooking triumphs
My husband has admitted that he really didn't expect me to turn out to be a very good cook. I guess that has changed! My cooking triumphs come when my husband, PICKY son, and veggie-lovin' daughter are FULL!
My cooking tragedies
I once had a recipe for "Hardee's biscuits". This has been about 10 years ago. I followed that thing to the best of my abilities. Well, apparently I did NOT put the correct amount of yeast in the dough. I had accidently doubled the regular amount. I was so proud of those beautiful biscuits....Right up until I took a bite of one. HORRIBLE! Live, learn, and laugh!!!
