Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2014
I made this for the first time this morning. It's as good as the rave reviews say! Be warned though; a 2-qt saucepan is not big enough to make this in. That's what I used and it foamed over as soon as I added the baking soda. This recipe is a keeper. I want to give some as gifts. It's that good! Thank you, Melissa, for sharing.

Quiche Supreme

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
The great thing about quiche is its versatility. You can use your favorite veggies and meat, or no meat at all. Also, different cheeses work well. I liked the flavor combination resulting from these spices. I included the vinegar. For the Monterey Jack portion of cheese, I used a combo of MJ and Colby. I didn't have any tarragon and couldn't find any in our small town, so that was left out. I put in a good amount of finely chopped broccoli. My husband and I both really liked this. With him taking lunches everyday, the second quiche never made it to the freezer! Reheats well in the microwave. Thank you for this fine recipe.

Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
I took this bread as a snack for a church meeting last week. It was a big hit and was quickly scarfed down followed by requests for the recipe. Honestly, it's a five-star hit!! One thing though, I didn't use the maraschino cherries. I can't imagine that they would have made it any better. So moist and flavorful! Thanks, Saundra, for posting what will likely be my go-to recipe for banana bread!

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
I took this to a church dinner this last Sunday and it was a hit! I prepared this just as the recipe states without changing anything. I don't think I've ever tasted better pulled pork in any restaurant or fast food joint. Thanks for the recipe cmccreight!

Chili Seasoning Mix II

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I made up a double batch of this to use in Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili. I had everything I needed on hand and it was a whiz to mix up. Now it's looking so pretty stored in a clear glass jar in my spice cabinet. Tastes great and more economical than store-bought.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I made this both for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was a real hit with our family and guests. I like that it doesn't call for corn syrup. I'm sure it would be very good with walnuts instead of pecans. I used to always use walnuts in our financially leaner days. Don't be afraid of the unconventionality of this recipe. It's delicious!

Cocktail Meatballs

I tripled the recipe and took these to a church fellowship during the Christmas season. I saw people filling their plates and going back for more. They were definitely a hit!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
This is a wonderful recipe that fully deserves all the great reviews. I've made it a few times now and it works well for me every time. I love the ease of preparation and the fact that the cookies can be stacked without sticking to each other or harming the design of each cookie. I learned that the recipe, if need be, can be thinned with milk (instead of additional corn syrup) with good results. This recipe is a definite keeper.

Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
This may well be the most delicious apple pie recipe I've ever made. Both the filling and the streusel topping were very tasty and, in my opinion, a cut above all the rest. I used a combination of Granny Smith and Honey Crisp. I brushed the crust with egg white before putting in the filling and my crust was not the least bit soggy. I didn't have time to freeze the crust and don't see how that could have made it any better. Perhaps if you do the egg white thing, it isn't necessary. Thanks, Ginny, for an excellent recipe.

Macaroni and Cheese V

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
This is a tasty dish worth adding to your repertoire of dinner menus. I prepared as stated, then added sliced, low fat turkey sausage. Voila! A one-dish meal. Next time I think I'll add some green onions also. Thank for the recipe.

Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
This is delicious, especially with a homemade crust! It's also versatile since you can add the meat or veggies you desire or have on hand. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that it was a little bland for my taste. I think that could easily be remedied with a little pepper or dash of hot sauce. Thank you for the recipe for this yummy and easy dish.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I made this for the first time for Christmas this year. Honestly, I wasn't expecting what I got because, well, it LOOKS rather blah. I loved it! I thought it was just about the tastiest thing on the table. I made mine in a deep dish and perhaps that's why it was creamy in the center, but maybe it was because of the creamed corn. The crusty edge was oh so yummy. I added pimento for color. Next time I think I'll try adding bacon. This dish was not a disappointment in the least!

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
The only thing I changed was that I subbed applesauce for half the oil called for; healthier, yet still so delicious. I added large chocolate chips to half the batter. I think loaves of this yummy bread would make great gifts.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
I doubled this recipe w/o any changes, prepared as stated and cooked in a large crockpot. It turned out perfect. I've gone through many recipes looking for one that could be my "go-to." My search is over. Thank you Deb for posting this delicious recipe.

Cornish Finnish Michigan Pasties

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
This is the first time I've ever tried my hand at making these. I thought I would be clever and chop all my veggies in my processor to save time. I don't recommend doing that as the veggie flavors got lost in the ground beef and the texture was too dense. I think this was my fault and not the recipe's. My husband loved these. I was particularly pleased with the pastry. They kept well in the fridge and reheated nicely in the microwave. I liked dipping them in ranch dressing.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
This is so good that I made 8 loaves already this season for my neighbors and mail carrier. The 350 oven it calls for seems to be too high for my oven but 340 works great. I'm wondering about the suggested 10 min prep time though. Did Speedy Gonzales come up with that? Maybe I'm just slow, but even using the food processor, it takes me twice that long. Very tasty recipe though and I'm sure I'll make it many more times.

Just made these for company this past week. OMG, SOOO delicious!! They are truly as light and fluffy as they say they are. Yum, yum. I just added some blueberries and a tablespoon of sugar. Real good warmed up too. I would put these up against anyone's pancakes. Anywhere. Anytime!

Dinah's Stuffed Mushrooms - My Way

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
Just made these this evening and took to a party. Everyone liked them. There was a professional chef there and I asked him his opinion. He thought they were tasty but a little too much bread. I personally think the recipe calls for far too much butter. I think one cup would be quite sufficient. Also, I had WAY much stuffing mix left over after I generously stuffed 20 large mushrooms. Next time, I'll buy 30 mushrooms. I may cut back on the breadcrumbs by a 1/4 cup. This is a crowd pleaser. I plan to make them for a New Year's party. Thank you Debnjames. : )
