Bronco Burger

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
Whoa! I halved the recipe, used two jalapenos and about set my mouth on fire! I like spicy, but this was very spicy! Maybe I just got a burger with more jalapeno than others. I still love the recipe and will be keeping it in my file for future use. Only sub I made was italian bread crumbs in place of the crushed fritos. (but would try them if I had them around the next time I made these!)

Sauteed Swiss Chard with Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This was alright. Probably won't bother to make it again.

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Quite good! I thought the sweetness was perfect, Grumpy thought it was too sugary. I used the full cup of sugar, but I used sugar free raspberry jello. I did not make two pies - I made 1 deep dish pie. I would make this again. I love the fresh strawberries in the pie.

Oil Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
I think the recipe could have had better directions. It doesn't tell you how to bake the crust if you want just a baked shell. I also think it was a little tough (and I did not over mix).

Slow Cooked Venison

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
I really liked this. I like heat though. I think those who don't care for spicy heat they should cut the sirachi sauce down. I did sprinkle a little brown sugar in the sauce. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
Although I used white chocolate chips and went without nuts, this gets 5 stars. The cake itself is great. I believe with mini chocolate chips and the nuts it would be awesome. I made them the way I did for someone else's taste (not mine!)

Vegetable Masala

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
This is 4 stars because I did have to modify the recipe some after it was made. I added some cayenne pepper and some tomato paste mixed with water (like another reviewer said - not enough liquid). A great base recipe to start with then adjust to your own taste. Thanks!

Banana Flip

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Freezing the bananas is a great way to make this drink colder. Using ice just dilutes it and it looses flavor. I freeze my banana's in chunks and drop them in the blender. Nice frozen drink!

Fluffy White Frosting

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
Just like I remember it being! My mom used to make this all the time but she called it "Seven Minute Frosting" - I love it! I used almond flavoring instead of vanilla. I will keep this one around!

Chocolate Mayo Cake

Not enough flavor for me. My grandmother used to make a much better one - so I am on the continued search!

Lemon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
This was ok...for a cake mix recipe. I guess I'm spoiled and I like homemade cake better. In a pinch - its ok, but when you have time, your better off making something special and completely homemade.

Easy Bacon, Onion and Cheese Stuffed Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
These were great! I didn't have garlic powder, so I used minced garlic from the jar. My son suggested next time I just mix the bacon in with all the burger because it "fell out" of it. I will make these again!

Spaghetti Pie III

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
I asked my son what he wanted for dinner tomorrow evening and this is what he requested, saying its his favorite dish that I make for him. I have made this many times - and we love the recipe.

Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
I didn't think this was bland at all! I thought it had great flavor...how could it not with garlic and oregano! I followed the recipe as written and served with garlic rice. It was great. In the future I would consider adding mushrooms like others have suggested. I also followed Linda's advice about browning the chicken well.

Eh, this was just ok. I probably won't make it again. Grumpy didn't rave about it either.

Delicious Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
This is a good recipe. I personally like to roll the batter in sugar and press criss cross with a fork so I put the batter in the fridge to firm up some (about 2 hours) before rolling and baking.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

I thought these were lacking in flavor. I think next time I would put some vanilla extract in the mix.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
Followed kaysa42's suggestion of cooking on a rack. I also put foil on my jelly roll pan. This took longer than the time stated in the recipe. I baked at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, turned the bacon over because it still wasn't all cooked and crispy and baked for about 7 more minutes. I thought at first my oven was off temp, but the thermometer in my oven said it was at 400. My cooking time just took longer - Go figure.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
These have great flavor, turned out fudgy (the way I like brownies best). My only issue was the frosting. I think the 1 cup called for in the recipe is probably not correct. I'm thinking probably 1/2 a cup would be perfect. I put the confectioner's sugar in 1/4 cup at a time and by the time I put in 3/4 cup it was way stiff. I had to patiently put the frosting on the hot brownies letting the heat melt it some so it was easier to spread. Next time I make these, it will be with only 1/2 cup confectioners sugar.
