Coming from me, that is a surprising but good thing.  I really never wanted to eat one because just the sound of them seemed so wrong!  Then after seeing so many recipes and finally after catching Bobby Flay's Throwdown on Fish Tacos I decided I had to try them after all.  What was wrong with… MORE

I love that Allrecipes has been putting up pancake recipes as the recipe of the day on the weekend.  We are big pancake eaters here and I love trying new things all the time.  When I saw their Chunky Monkey Pancake recipe this morning I knew I had to make them.  They are a great recipe.  I… MORE

We are big shrimp eaters in our home.  We love it grilled, we love it in pasta, we love it especially in the Honey Walnut Shrimp recipe here on AR.  That recipe is Grumpy's very favorite one.  However, for the most part, I try to keep it healthy so the Honey Walnut Shrimp is a special… MORE

My friend Theresa's birthday was yesterday.  Last week, in the midst of the heat wave it was suggested by another friend that if Theresa was special I would make her cupcakes for her birthday.  Ha!  Well, in all that heat I wasn't so inclined! It so happened that yesterday our plans didn't… MORE

Its been pretty hot lately.  Much hotter than we normally have around Northern New York.   I knew I did not want to turn the oven on so I found this salad that could sit in as a main dish and I didn't have to cook it.  I was slightly skeptical about the salad because the summer squashes and… MORE

We have decided that this year we will go to Alexandria Bay for the fireworks over Boldt Castle.  I have lived in this area all my life (am 47 this year!) and have never been to fireworks at the Bay.  I am looking really forward to going!  What are you going to do? I've been busy.  Busy… MORE

About Me
I am a home cook who works full time and have been a blogger on my own site, Grumpy's Honeybunch, since 2007. I love to experiment and create in the kitchen. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but always fun! My one place I am not the best at is the grill - and I leave that to Grumpy! Since I started using AR several years ago, my home life has changed a lot. We had to relocate for work purposes, My sons no longer live at home and its just Grumpy, me, and our 3 cats. I am a participant in the Allrecipes Allstar program and have had a great time with the challenges as well as the great people I have met through the Allstar program!
My favorite things to cook
I always was a baker but since I started blogging almost 5 years ago, I have also become a more experienced cook. We love pasta meals and especially Asian inspired meals. I love homemade candy although I'm not the best candy maker, I will still attempt it every so often. My very favorite sweet treat from this site is Brooke's Bombshell Brownies. I've taken the recipe and used it as a base to create several different brownie recipes, my favorite being "when life gets you down" brownie (chock full of Peanut Butter flavor) and a peanut butter caramel swirled brownie. Both recipes are on my blog grumpyshoneybunch.com.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Summer fish frys at my aunt and uncles home. Homemade fudge and popcorn on Saturday nights while a child! When my boys were younger Friday night was homemade pizza and movie night and some of my most special memories are baking cookies with Nanny. I have every one of her "special" cookie recipes on file and when feeling nostalgia hit I will bake one of her recipes.
My cooking triumphs
My best compliment ever - a cheesecake I made was described to be "better than Juniors!" The pumpkin fudge recipe on this site that I reviewed at 5 stars....this is an awesome cooked fudge recipe. My son totally loves the fudge and so do I!
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was first married, I made fudge. It didn't set up and I was too embarrassed to tell my hubby, so I hid it in the closet (no idea WHY I did such a thing!) and ended up forgetting about it. We came across it one day cleaning and I had to fess up, he had more of a laugh because I tried to hide it!
