Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2013
These were fine, slightly dry but not awful. Wouldn't repeat this recipe, but they were ok.

Barbeque Shredded Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2013
This was enjoyable. I used a small amount of liquid smoke, and next time I would definitely add garlic. The recipe doesn't specify, but I used apple cider vinegar. A little molasses would really put this over the top for a crockpot recipe.

Steamed Asian Sesame Veggies

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2013
Definitely enjoyable, could easily be adapted to use other veggies. The veggies really aren't steamed, but this is still a good dish.

Easy Omelet in a Bag

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2013
Worked great! I've heard of these before but not tried them. I didn't follow recipe exactly, only the cooking method. I whisked the eggs before adding to bag. Used black pepper, garlic salt, tiny bit of paprika, sliced sausage links, and garden tomatoes. I'm sure it would be great as written, too, lol but I was trying to get this done during my son's nap time and didn't feel like prepping veggies. This would be great for camping, houseguests, or the morning after slumber parties. Worked perfectly, but also LOOKED nice, which is not something I was expecting out of something cooked in a sandwich bag! I used regular, generic sandwich bags and it was fine, no need for pricier freezer bags.

Beef Stir-Fry with Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
Turned out very well! Doubled sauce(cut vinegar in half) and served over basmati rice. I did change up veggies a little- left out bell peppers and mushrooms, julienned carrots. Added cauliflower and sliced anaheim pepper. Seasoned beef with garlic powder and ground black pepper while cooking.

Chef John's Baked Lemon Pepper Salmon

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2013
This was a nice recipe, the sauce turned out well. Local grocery store doesn't carry miso, added a little soy sauce.

Dong'an Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
I really expected more spice out of this recipe, it was surprising how mild it wound up being. I used chicken breast rather than a whole chicken. Wouldn't make again, but it wasn't bad.

Chinese Style Low Carb Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
These are really a nice Asian meatball! Even my 7 year old loved them, and she's very picky. They were super liquify, I did add about 1/2 C of crushed pork rinds (lol sounds disgusting, but it's a pretty common bread crumb substitute in low carb recipes...) to bind things together. Cooked in chicken broth with ginger and green onion rather than water.

Spy Thai Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
I enjoyed this one, my husband hated it so much he couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. Pretty plain on it's own, I added a dash of fish sauce and some sambal. Also added green onion and fresh cilantro.

Fajita Seasoning

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2013
This was awesome! I omitted the corn starch because I'm on a low-carb diet and it still was just absolutely phenomenal. I'll be making this one again and again!

Beef and Blue Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2013
These were ok, but my husband and I both felt that the blue cheese was pretty overwhelming in this one. The steak seasoning was a nice addition and the beef was great!

Simple Mexican Coleslaw

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2013
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but we really couldn't stand this. I even tried to fix it with the other reviewers tips...still pretty bad. The only thing "Mexican" about this is the cilantro, as written. Very little flavor, and the flavor it has is not good.

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2013
Unfortunately as written this one really didn't work for me- so I played with it until it did. I doubled the parmesan, upped the garlic powder to 1/4 tsp, and added 1/4 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp celery seed, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, and 1 tsp sriracha. If I were to make this again I would also back way off on the mayo, it was just swimming in it.

Overnight Pork Roast With Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
Hard to rate this correctly as I changed the cut of meat and cooking method. I used a pork roast in the crock pot. Husband did not like the flavor of caraway on the cabbage, but the meat turned out well.

Beef Sirloin Tip Roast with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
This was bad. The meat was tough and salty. This could easily be remedied- turn this into a crock pot recipe, use 50/50 beef broth to water to cover meat. Also needs pepper. As is, my husband and daughter only ate enough not to be rude and afterwards let me know just how bad it had been.
