Graham Cracker Crust I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
One of the best graham cracker crusts I've had. Used in a citrusy pie so I omitted the cinnamon. Used in a spring form pan and it worked wonderfully.

Lemonade Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
This was a solid recipe that we enjoyed. Cool and refreshing. It would lend itself well to tweaking with other concentrates and pudding flavors.

This was ok, but unfortunately didn't really live up to prior reviews.

This recipe was fine. It wasn't outstanding, it wasn't bad, it was pretty...fine.

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
These were somewhat enjoyable, but really just tasted like pickles. Good pickles, but not really a salad that I would want to eat a whole serving of.

This stuff was great! Even subbed dry basil for fresh and it was still outstanding!

Chinese Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
We loved this! Did make a few changes- made dressing with seasoning packet, 1/3 c vegetable oil, 2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar, 1 Tbsp white sugar and 1 Tbsp brown sugar. Will definitely make again!

Portobello Bellybuttons

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2012
We really enjoyed these! I doubled butter, basil, liquid (used chicken brother rather than wine) , and probably quadrupled the garlic. I'm glad I did everything but the butter, it made the dish a little greasier than it needed to be but still pretty darn good!

Eva Claiborne's Hen and Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2012
Unfortunately, I found it way WAY too bland. Especially given the amount of work that goes into this, I would definitely not make again.

Pad Kee Mow (Drunkard's Noodles)

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
I made a few minor adjustments- used dried rice noodles, regular sugar, and regular basil. I used thin rice noodles because that's what I had on hand, but in the future would definitely use wide. First of all, the flavor was AWESOME!! But, like pretty much everyone else said, ridiculously salty (and I used reduced sodium soy sauce, too). The flavor really makes it worth it, but I would love to find a way to cut back on the saltiness of this dish.

No-Noodle Zucchini Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
This was fine, a good way to use zucchini from the garden. The flavors were fine, just like any other lasagna, but the "noodles" didn't quite do it for me. Probably won't make again now that my zucchini surplus is used up, but not bad!

Very, very basic pasta salad but cool and refreshing. Easy to make, loaded with veggies, and great for a summer evening!

Pink Angel Dessert

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2012
I was really hoping for something cool and refreshing given the other reviews, but this just doesn't work. The gelatin mixture isn't lemonade-y enough. The texture of the angel food cake is just weird with the gelatin mixture. I had to add a little pink food coloring to actually make it pink. My mother makes something similar to the gelatin mixture only with a graham cracker crust and regular jello that is just heavenly- I'll stick to that in the future.

Pepper Rice and Confetti Beef

The whole family enjoyed this, even the picky little one. Doubled the beef and sauce. Added a little ground ginger, black pepper, salt, and minced garlic to the beef and pepper mixture while it was cooking.

Cheesy Mexican Spoon Bread

I really wanted to like this more than I did. Needs a little sugar and it has an odd texture. EDIT: Topped with sour cream and pico de gallo this is a solid 4 star recipe!

Chicken Taco Filling

Good basic recipe for shredded chicken. Used boneless thighs. Just a tip: to save time when shredding chicken, just put it in your stand mixer and use the paddle attachment, it will be shredded in no time.

Easy Asian Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
Enjoyed this as-is as a dipping sauce (halved the vinegar) but also modified to use with leftover chicken and rice. Added a cube of chicken bouillon, 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes, 3 Tbsp brown sugar, 1/4 cup chopped green onion. Cut leftover chicken into bite-size pieces and added to sauce, served over jasmine rice.
