Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
Wow. Fabulous. Even though I goofed a little - forgot the tomato paste at first, didn't marinate for the entire time - these still came out wonderfully. I'll be making these as my budget permits. Thanks for sharing!

Mixed Vegetable Grill

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
Oh, my! This was sooooo good. I thought the brown sugar sounded a little weird, but it gave the veggies just a slightly sweet carmelized flavor. I left out the potatoes and added some onion and sliced portabella mushrooms. I think this would work well on any assortment of veggies you prefer. I made these for Father's Day along with grilled steak, marinated shrimp from this site, and baked potatoes - and a chocolate chip cake, my DH's favorite. I had the leftovers the next day on a steak salad, and they were even better. I like the fact that this recipe makes enough for two preps, so now I've got an extra one for this weekend. I plan on making this at least once a week!

False Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2008
Sorry, this really didn't work for us. I thought it was OK, but hubby didn't like it at all. We'll try regular cabbage rolls next time.

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2008
Yum, yum, yum, yum! I did tweak a bit per other reviewers' suggestions - used 4 tbsp of cocoa powder in the cake part, along with a tsp or so of both vanilla and almond flavoring and cut hot water back to 1-1/2 cups. This is going in the permanent collection. Thanks for sharing!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
HAH! I made this this morning for my husband to take to work - Super Bowl Snack Day. One hour later, he's e-mailing me because EVERYONE wants the recipe! Definitely a keeper! I did take some other reviewers' suggestions. I used half Ranch and half Blue Cheese dressing, used cooked shredded chicken, and I used Texas Pete's Wing Sauce and sharp cheddar cheese. I baked it in the oven for about 30 minutes until it was bubbly, and served it with Aldis brand "Entertainment Crackers" and celery sticks. Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait to make it again! The only thing I might do differently is add a bit more chicken. Other than that, it was perfect.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
I've not tried this particular recipe, but it's VERY similar to one that my cousin gave me (I think it came from Taste Of Home), and we make it every year on vacation. There's so much you can do with it. We have used a Romaine/Spinach mix, added some red onion, mandarin oranges and almonds (not all at the same time, but I suppose that would work), and one day I'm going to try this with some cooked chicken to make a complete meal. Thanks for sharing!

Tuscan Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
My cousin served this at our New Year's Eve get-together, and it was fantastic! Looking forward to making it myself at home. The only thing she changed is that she left out the olives, which was OK because most people in our family don't like them.

Mom's Sweet Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
This recipe beats all those marshmallow concoctions hands down. I've made this several times and there's hardly ever any left. If there is any left, it's fabulous for breakfast the next morning.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
Haven't tried this yet, but I'm going to tonight, based on the reviews. I am always looking for good pasta sauce recipes to make myself as the store-bought brands are all LOADED with sugar (hubby is diabetic). Thanks for sharing!

Creamy Italian White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
Very good! I was looking for recipes that included spinach, and came across this one. I took some other reviewers' suggestions - doubled the garlic, added extra thyme and some rosemary. I also used an immersion blender to puree. I may try adding some cooked chicken next time, but this is definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing!

Never Fail Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
My grandmother gave me this recipe when I got married 20 years ago, and it's been in my family for MANY years. I think the only difference was that her recipe had two tablespoons of vinegar, but it gave the crust a slightly sour bite that goes perfectly with a sweet filling. I've always refrigerated it for a few hours before rolling, and it rolls beautifully. I've not tried using it straight after making.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
Excellent marinade. My cousin made the marinade and we put it on fresh shrimp on skewers. It was so good! We generally triple the recipe, and I pour it over chicken breasts and keep them in the freezer for quick meals. The marinade itself keeps nicely in the fridge. Thank you for sharing!

Roasted Roma Tomatoes and Garlic

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
Maybe someone can give me suggestions. I didn't use Roma tomatoes, but I had some "Campari" tomatoes on hand, which are in between Roma and Cherry tomatoes. Do you seed your tomatoes before you roast them? Mine came out of the oven with a ton of liquid on the bottom of the pan. I still thought they were quite good.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing! I made this New Year's Eve for our family get-together, and it was to die for. The sun-dried tomatoes really added a lot of flavor. I also threw in a couple cloves of minced garlic. We also made the Marinated Cheese on this site, and we used some of the marinade from that recipe to brush the bread with before toasting. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Marinated Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
WOW! I had this for the first time at a Church function and it was fantastic. I was a little leery of trying it after I read some of the reviews posted here (mainly problems with the cream cheese), but I didn't have any problem. I used Meijer brand cream cheese (full fat brand), and put it in the freezer for a bit. If you work quickly slicing it, there shouldn't be a problem. The only thing I did differently was to use fresh basil instead of dry, and Splenda for the sugar. I also poured off most of the oil before serving, and it was fantastic. If you do pour off the oil, don't throw it away!! We saved it and brushed it on the bread we used to make the Double Tomato Bruschetta on this site, which is also fantastic. Thanks so much for this recipe!

Toffee Chunk Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
If I could give this more than five stars, I would. Oh, my, this was soooo good! I did take some other people's advice and used only half the chocolate/caramel mixture in the bottom, used a 10" springform pan, and it did take about two hours to bake. I've also never put a cheesecake in a water bath, but I think it made all the difference. My hubby liked this so much he actually took a picture of it - don't ask me why. Anyhow, thank you very much for this recipe. It's a keeper!

The Great Pumpkin Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
Oh, man, this was soooo good. My hubby is type II diabetic, so I was looking for something with less sugar. We couldn't tell the difference between this and pumpkin pie made with real sugar. This recipe is definitely a keeper. The only difference was that I used my grandmother's homemade pie crust. It's the best. I've seen several very similar recipes here on Allrecipes. It's got egg and white vinegar in it. I'd suggest trying it sometime - it's very easy and very good! Thank you for this recipe!

Ramen Coleslaw

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2004
I've made this several times with terrific reviews. I use pre-packaged coleslaw, sunflower seeds in place of the sesame seeds, and rice wine vinegar in place of the white wine vinegar. This is super-easy to throw together in the morning for an afternoon picnic. I'm looking forward to trying the other variations that have been suggested.

Grandma's Secret Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2004
My grandmother gave me this recipe when I first got married 17 years ago. After countless pies, it truly has "never failed" me. People rave about this crust as much as they do the actual pie! I've even doubled and tripled the recipe for bake sales and it comes out beautifully every time.
