Caramels

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
Wonderful caramel with old time flavor! The only change I made was to use a 9 X 13 pan. I wanted my caramel to be a little thicker so I could cut them into squares. I also generously buttered the pan, then dabbed up any excess oil with a paper tool after I dumped the Carmel out. I was too afraid it would stick. Yummy!!!! I think I'll melt a few down later and make caramel popcorn balls! Thanks for sharing!!

World's Best Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
This was such a simple recipe! The fudge was smooth, pretty and tasted great!! I was nervous about how long to cook it after reading all the mixed reviews. So...I timed it AND used a candy thermometer . The result? At exactly 5 minutes, my candy thermometer read 248 - the temperature of softball stage. My fudge turned out moist, but firm enough to cut and package. Not dry at all!! I do have a gas stove, so perhaps that helped in the timing/temperature issue so many others are experiencing. I did take the advice of others and premix the peanutbutter, marshmallow cream and flour ahead of time using my electric mixer. Thanks for sharing!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
I've been looking for a while for a good peanut butter frosting recipe, and I must say that this one is probably one of the best. It taste delicious, and still keeps that peanut butter taste while being light and fluffy. I didn't measure out the amount of milk I used, and I think I ended up using more than the recipe says just to make sure that it was super light and fluffy. I also added about 3/4 of a tablespoon of cocoa, just because the taste of peanut butter can be overwhelming in big quantities.

Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2012
Loved it!! I stink at making the wontons though. They were ugly and most of them fell apart. Anyone who has a trick for this, please let me know. Next time, I think I may try to use whole shrimp and leave out the pork in order to save time. I changed the following.... 1. I made more broth because we loved it! 2. I added a little soy sauce to the broth. 3. I added a little ground ginger to the broth. So yummy!!!!!!

Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I read what others said about the thickness when using evaporated milk, so I substituted real cream for evaporated milk. It worked perfectly!! I used it in a recipe for home made hot fudge. Wonderful!!

Chocolate Pecan Delite

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
I made this for my dad's 60th birthday, per his request. He handed me the recipie that was one he had for years. I compared it to this one, and decided to make this one instead. The only difference was that his suggestsed you layer the cream cheese mixture and the pudding mixture rather than mix them together. Next time, I will try layering just for looks, but I don't think it will make a difference in the taste. Also, his recipie called for only 2 cups of milk, which I think I will try next time. 3 cups of milk seemed to make the pudding a little less "set". And lastly, his recipe called for grated Hershey bar on top, instead of pecans. So for next time: Iwould suggest that we try less milk, layer more and grate chocolate o the top. Yummy! Thanks

Caramel Apple Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
This recipe makes one bag of caramels go a long way and it taste great! The only trouble I had was that it looked like peanut buter and everyone would try it. Once I got the word out that it was caramel dip, they all ate it and loved it. (I only had dark brown sugar, so maybe that's why it looked so much like peanut butter.)

Doreen's Ham Slices on the Grill

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
We made two batches of this marinade because my daughter saw the horseradish on the counter before I mixed it and refused to eat it. So...I made one batch with horseradish and one without. The entire family agreed that the batch without actually tasted better. So if you have any picky eaters in your house, just try mixing the brown sugar and the lime juice together for your marinade. I've also heard that PEPSI (not diet) is good to add in with the brown sugar instead of the lime juice.
