Easy Pleasy Mac N Cheesy - US Navy Style

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
I made this for dinner tonight and we thought it to be the best mac and cheese we have ever had. It was very moist and flavorful. I found it to be a recipe that will serve more than 6. The two of us will be eating it for several days! Thank you for sharing this recipe. My husband is AF retired but the Navy serves really good food! Thank you also for serving in the armed forces. You are special people.

Marinated Salad

This is a perfect salad to take to a "carry in". There is nothing to worry about if it is a hot day. I've had many requests for the recipe so I know I'm not the only one who thinks it is keeper.

Grandma's Butterscotch Pie

The recipe I have from my mother many years ago is almost identical. As a child it was my favorite. I made one today to take to a church carry in and I'm sure it will receive rave reviews. I'm hoping there will be a piece for me.

Cake Mix Cookies V

A great cookie when made at midnight to take to a grandchild in college. I used the tiny M & M's and some pecans in the dough. Crispy and delicious. They were truly appreciated.

Jambalaya Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
I found this recipe to be labor intensive but worth the effort involved. I put it in the oven for over an hour and still the rice was not cooked so simmered it awhile on the range. I had cut it in fourths but even that would have fed 8. Each of five diners had second helpings. Left overs should be just as good.

This is the second year may DIL has made this and it sure beats the old marshmallow topping. Delicious, moist and a real keeper. A bit too sweet for us diabetics but a very small serving is worth it. Thanks for sharing.

These were quite tasty, but on the expensive side when you consider the price of wafters. They didn't last long in this household!

This was quite tastey but I had trouble getting it out of the pans although they had been well greased. My husband took a loaf to his barbershop chorus rehearsal knowing the men would gobble them up.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
This was a great recipe for bread pudding. Being a diabetic, I cut the carbs down by using skim milk and artificial sweetener and it was still quite good. For bread I used homemade buttermilk bread. I did add raisins but they would have cut the cards down a great deal more.

I grew up with the name of Fireman's breakfast. The hole was the one the firemen slid down from upstairs and the egg was the gold colored pole they slid down through the hole. I think I learned that 70 years ago!
