Molasses Sugar Cookies

I have made these cookies for years. My mother gave me a brochure from a Gold Medal flour sack dated 1939 that has the recipe on it. Some think it is a new creation but it sure isn't! At our house they disappear in short order.

Marinated Salad

This is a perfect salad to take to a "carry in". There is nothing to worry about if it is a hot day. I've had many requests for the recipe so I know I'm not the only one who thinks it is keeper.

New England Clam Chowder I

I did not care for this recipe. For flavor, I added a whole other can of clams, and cut down on the amount of potatoes! I also added a bottle of clam juice. I might have been eating plain milk.

Egg in a Boat

I grew up with the name of Fireman's breakfast. The hole was the one the firemen slid down from upstairs and the egg was the gold colored pole they slid down through the hole. I think I learned that 70 years ago!

Bread Pudding II

This was a great recipe for bread pudding. Being a diabetic, I cut the carbs down by using skim milk and artificial sweetener and it was still quite good. For bread I used homemade buttermilk bread. I did add raisins but they would have cut the cards down a great deal more.

Pineapple Banana Bread

This was quite tastey but I had trouble getting it out of the pans although they had been well greased. My husband took a loaf to his barbershop chorus rehearsal knowing the men would gobble them up.

Favorite Fish Chowder

I cut this recipe in half since I am the only fish eater in the house. I used flounder and a can of clams. Flavor was very good but the recipe call for way too much pepper.

My Best Clam Chowder

I made this chowder as directed and am very disapponted. It had no clam flavor whatsoever despite the fact that I used two bottles of clam juice instead of the water. I will not make this again.

Walnut Maple Fudge

I followed the recipe precisely and it never set so I heated it and added confectioner's sugar to thicken it, poured it back in the 9 x 13 pan and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight. It set some but still too soft on the bottom. Flavor was good but consistencey poor.
