This recipe has a wonderful marinade. I have also used it with steak--the family loves it!

Easy and good. I used this with several frozen fruits with good results.

Old Fashioned Fudge

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2007
This is a recipe my family made in the 1950's and 60's. It has great texture, much better than more modern fudge recipes, but is less predictable. Let the mixture cool slowly in the pan without stirring until you can let your hand rest comfortably on the bottom of the pan for 10-15 seconds, then proceed with beating the mixture as recommended. Have your pan prepped and ready to pour-the change from glossy to non-glossy is subtle; it may take a few tries to get the timing perfect.

Orange Slice Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
This is the recipe my MIL used. I had misplaced mine and was delighted to see it again. Made these for DH for Valentine's day; he was delighted and enjoyed the cookies, but didn't like the walnuts I had added per a reviewer's suggestion; I prefer the cookies with nuts.

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
Great soup. I omitted the ham (vegatarians in family), sauteed the onion and celery, have used various cheeses (mozzerella, grated mixtures, cheddar) with excellent results. Only "bad" result was with evaporated milk-daughter wouldn't eat that one!

Russian Tea Cakes I

Definitly wait until the second day to even try these! The first day I was horrified and disgusted--tasted nasty! The second day they had improved tremendously. Don't know what I did or maybe others just KNOW to wait for the second day.

Peach Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
Waffled between 4 and 5 stars . . . good, went with 5 stars because is an easy low-fat dessert. Peach schapps adds a little extra peach flavor; add to mix, glaze or whipped topping.

Peppermint Brittle

Very easy addition to a candy plate. Try with lemon drops, too. Watch the size of the candy chips to avoid a chipped tooth.

Excellent cake. We didn't taste it until Day 3 (it was refrigerated) but once we tasted it, it was gone in a flash! Very moist.

Broccoli and Ramen Noodle Salad

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
Great recipe. Have used a very similar one for years. I use approx 1/2 c sunflower seeds and 1/2 c slivered almonds instead of peanuts and like the roasted chicken Ramen soup the best. Very easy and very quick.

Instant Strawberry Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Great ice cream, easy to make. I put the cream in first, then added a few of the frozen strawberries at a time. No problems. Used a blender.

Tangy Poppy Seed Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Taste was excellent. I've taken it to an outdoor party, a work potluck and made it today at home. Well received at the party and home-not well liked at work. May have been the poppy seeds-people kept asking, "What are those black things?". I omitted the lime zest and the poppy seeds at home (the lime was zested out!) and I liked that one best.

Tart Lemon Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Great lemon flavor. Easy to make. Followed another reviewer's advice and reprocessed it after an hour. Kept lemon juice, cream and milk in (refrigerator) freezer for 1/2 hour before processing to decrease freezing time.

Tender, good flavor...will try a little more lime and honey next time. Used creamy Italian-it's what I had.

Chicken Salad Spread

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
Good, not excellent. Will try it with freshly cooked chopped chicken. I think it's the taste and texture of the canned chicken (I used Del Monte canned chicken breast) that I don't care for. Easy, good basic recipe to have on hand for emergency lunch. Would be good with canned tuna.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Easy, good but not the best recipe for raisin-less oatmeal cookies. I'll try these again sometime and see if I just didn't get it right the first time. It might be the cinnamon, but we usually love cinnamon. Also way too salty. Thanks for the recipe.

Peach Cobbler IV

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I used 29 oz can drained peaches. I had the list of ingredients, but not the directions, so I melted the butter in the pan, put in the peaches, forgot the sugar for the peaches. Sprinkled cinnamon on the peaches, poured on batter with about 1/2 tsp baking powder added, added cinnamon for color. Realized what I'd done when I found the recipe and turned the oven to 400F for 20 minutes for browner top. Turned out well, considering. Obviously a fail-proof recipe; will lower the butter to 1/4 cup next time, leave the topping on top and possibly add finely ground nuts or wheat germ to the topping. I thought it was sweet enough without the cup of sugar in the peaches. A nice warm breakfast on a cool morning.

Bat Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Good. These don't stand out at first bite, but draw you back for more. I may try a little seasoning salt in the mix next time. I'll try marinating them first next time and maybe reduce the sauce so that it's thicker. I used frozen wings, and ended up with more sauce than I started with. Definitely worth a try if you have kids.
