EXACTLY the recipe I've been looking for for years. Chewy, chocolatey fabulousness like my mom used to make. Great recipe!

This was great! Perfect comfort food. Time consuming, but ultimately well worth it.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2006
This is perfect as-is. Mistakenly bought a more expensive roast and was less pleased. Everyone I've made it for raves and how great to come home to that smell!

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2004
This is a favorite. Always turns out fabulous, the wine/balsalmic is a perfect compliment to the meat. Quick, easy, delicious. I always use Trader Joe's 10 year aged balsamic. I also double the amount of wine & vinegar, and cook down to thicken the "sauce" after meat is cooked. I serve filets a top "Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe" http://sidedish.allrecipes.com/az/GrlicMshdPttsScrtRcip.asp with the thickened wine-vinegar "gravy" drizzled over everything. This is my perfect "having guests over for dinner on a weeknight" meal. Looks and tastes super impressive and is so simple to prepare.

Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2004
I was disappointed in this recipe. It was good, but nothing like I'd hoped after reading all the rave reviews. It tasted like a brownie. We honestly thought the mixes out of a box turn out better. Really liked the frosting tho. :/

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2004
This recipe was fabulous. I'm EXTREMELY picky about what pork I'll eat, this is by far the best I've had in at least 10 years. The flavor went all the way to the center, and yet wasn't overpowering. The clove flavor was great. I might have used a bit more spices than the recipe called for, but it turned out great. Nothing but rave reviews from the family. I've found that, shredded, this meat is perfect for the addition of NC vinegar/pepper based bbq sauce. We enjoy the pork loin as is the first night, and I shred up the remaining and toss with home made NC bbq sauce (vinegar, garlic, red pepper, clove) and have sandwiches the next day. I would give this recipe 6 stars if I could.

Roasted Asparagus and Garlic

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2004
I didn't care for this recipe. Being winter I tried it on my Foreman grill. Thought it was bland. Will stick w/ my tried-and-true steamed and topped w/ garlic vinaigrette dressing.

Quick Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2004
This was fantastic. I tripled the lemon juice and loved the tanginess it brought to the dish, really zipped up and brought out the broccoli. And the second time I doubled the amount of cheese! Awesome, and extremely easy to make.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2004
These are really good. Not my ultimate favorite, but it got great reviews from my family and the tanginess of the lemon/horseradish combo, really livens it up. I used baby purple potatoes and it was wonderful.

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2004
Made a big enough batch (with peas instead of beans) over the holidays to serve at a couple gatherings. Almost everyone complimented it, and nobody complained! Comforting, rich flavors make this a new winter staple! A perfect way to put the leftover ham and bone to use after the holidays! I never make soup with water when broth can be substituted, chicken or veggie usually. That was the only change I made! Perfect served with a dollop of sour cream or dash of sherry!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2004
These are awesome. I was looking for a jumping point recipe to start off cooking hot "wings" with and this was perfect. The sauce mixture is the perfect heat w/ a little bite, but not too much to mask the chicken! I use tenderloins or sliced breast to make fingers. No fussing w/ bones and bigger pieces to savor! Yum. I also added random items from the spice cabinet to the flour mix and halfed the flour and replaced with half Washingtons seafood mix. Also added just a touch of apple-cider vinegar to the butter/hot sauce mixture. This is a fantastic recipe as is, but it's also a perfect one to experiment with as well!! Either way you're sure to enjoy!

Frying Pan Okra

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2004
Wasn't a big fan of the tumeric tast with the okra, but my husband enjoyed it. Almost as simple, I just shake the okra in a bag w/ flour and seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder, soul seasoning) to taste. It's easy, fast, delicious and allows for full okra flavor.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
These are awesome. Will definitely make again and again. I don't know the restaurant these are supposed to be from, but one of my xmas guests did, exclaiming "these are EXACTLY like the potatoes at yada yada". A couple people commented that there was perhaps too much garlic, but I thought they were perfect so I won't be modifying it to suit them. They'll have to learn to deal! A keeper!!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2003
This cookie recipe is AWESOME. I'm not really a fan of peanut butter cookies, but these are great. I bumped up the cocoa powder to 1/2 cup the second time, because I thought they could stand to be a little more chocolatey, and added a chunk of peanut butter cup to the top of each. They come out perfectly, and stay chewy. This is a keeper.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2003
This was the best chicken soup I've made. Friends and husband loved it. I thought it tasted a bit too "green" and will probably reduce the amount of poultry seasoning next time. I used the Kitchen Basics REAL chicken stock, too. This is a keeper.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2003
This recipe is AWESOME!! We've made it every Friday for the last 3 weeks. I accidentally doubled the amount of spices from 1/2 t to 1 t, and enjoyed it that way. Also whisked in a tiny bit of vanilla and fresh ground nutmeg into whipping cream for the topping.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2003
My new favorite potatoes. I used the baby red, white and peruvian purple potatoes, so it looked as awesome as it tasted. I did give the pan a good coat with cooking spray, and had no problems with the spuds sticking. I left them in a bit too long, and they burned a bit, but I think that made them even better than when I cooked them per the recipe.
