I was married to an Air Force weather forecaster so we lived just about everywhere, all over the US, Europe, and Phillipines, thus my great interest in foreign foods. I'm disabled now, so have almost given up the kitchen, I still try, but I'm afraid I get in the way with my walker. That's OK. I can still choose the menu and say how I want it done. I LOVE overseeing new recipes, my recipe box is a wonderful idea, thanks.
My favorite things to cook
Thanksgiving Dinner, Turkey with cornbread dressing and the pecan pies, pumpkin pies, mince pies, etc.
From France, coq au vin and peasant foods like chou croute; from the Islands Pork Adobo(or chicken),Pancit, and Lumpia.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The way everybody seemed to enjoy helping in the kitchen, they made it fun.All four kids and their "Dad". He did the outside cooking (he was good at it) and all the "He Man" dishes, chili casserole, gumbo, red beans and rice, etc. And even with four teens, they were home for dinner every night.
My cooking tragedies
When I was quite young I baked a turkey with the giblet bag still inside and served it to company.
