I'm always exploring. It's how I learn. I love to try new things, new recipes, new combinations that people don't ordinarily think of.
I'm also a bit of a purist. Why would I use a pre-made, bottled ingredient when I can use fresh ingredients?
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything. Granted, I have my staple foods, but there has never been a recipe that I've not wanted to try other than deep-fried boot leather.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Molasses cake. It's a guarded recipe, passed down through generations, and MAN is it good! I make it for wherever I end up on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and have never had anyone not ask me to bring it the next year or give me the recipe.
My cooking triumphs
I used to bake cakes as a side business. It got to the point that people would come to a birthday party just because my cakes were there. It was fun watching people enjoy my recipe so much, regardless of their food aversions.
My cooking tragedies
It wasn't a COOKING tragedy, but let's say I've spent a Thanksgiving in a gas mask thanks to some chemical reactions in the sink due to a clogged garbage disposal.
