Grilled Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
This turned out great! It was borderline too hot ( used extra hot sauce and cayenne), BUT.....the taste was so good I kept going back for more.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
I made this a while ago and it turned out great! I actually bought a half of a turkey (it was around 6-7 lbs) and cooked it this way. Very tender and tasty. There was a lot of juice in the bottom so I made gravy too.

Maria's Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
This is excellent! I love the taste of the sauce. I made it with 1/2 cup of everything (instead of 1/3) the last time for even more sauce. Served on rice. Just to show how much we love this recipe, we like variety in our meals and seldom make the same thing twice within a month. But we have made this three times in the last two weeks!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2006
Delicious! I didn't change a thing. I made two batches for a bake sale tomorrow and am disappointed I can't keep them all for myself. FYI: I figured out that 2.5 cups graham cracker crumbs is the same as 15 whole graham crackers (where each graham cracker is 4 of the small rectangles). At least that's how they do them around here.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
Edit: I should also say I used a 9x13 pan and this time I did 1.5 the amount of topping. The topping is wonderful. Original: This is amazing! I didn't change a thing other than cooking it for only 25 mins the second time. This is the peach cobbler recipe for me! I picked up a tip from another peach cobbler recipe on this site: to get the skins off, take a pot of boiling water and put the peaches in it for about a minute. Carefully remove them from the water and let them cool slightly. The skins peel right off! And it's also really easy to cut them apart too.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
This was delicious! I used fat free vanilla yogurt and fat free half-and-half (instead of cream) but I swear it's not missing a thing. It was served on Coriander and Herbs Naan. I doubled the cream sauce and plan on making rice to go with the leftovers. I also used 5 small chicken breasts and sautéed them, then drained the marinade off. Don't worry about the strong cinnamon smell, it blends in beautifully.

Sensational Steak Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
We really enjoyed this. I made the meat mixture exactly as written other than leaving it in the crockpot on low all day while I was at work. I ended up using rolls for individual sandwiches and made a small mixture of horseradish & dijon mustard to spread on the bread. Didn't bake it at the end at all. That way turned out a little soggy but very tasty anyway. I'll do it exactly as written next time! Thanks.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
Update: I figure out this tastes the same no matter which bourbon whiskey I use. I now pick up one of the cheapest bottles they have and it's great. Original: This deserves more than 5 stars! I made this for Memorial Day BBQ and it was wonderful! Used Maker's Mark and didn't change the recipe other than adding a bit more hot sauce. Cooked it outside on the grill on Saturday for Monday's BBQ. I strained the onions out and I wish I would have followed some other suggestions of cutting the onions into wedges to make it easier, but it all worked out in the end. Letting the chicken soak in the BBQ sauce for 24 hours from yesterday until today made it even better!

Awesome Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: May 20, 2006
This is a very tasty and flavorful chicken noodle soup recipe. I didn't have any lemon grass. I used fresh parsley & thyme from the garden as well as some bottled minced garlic. I also used 2 lbs of boneless chicken breasts and 2 lbs chicken drumsticks. Make sure you use a huge pot!

I made these tonight and they were great! I used Corona and 6 oz of tequila. Thanks for this great idea. Who would have thought?

Sourdough Starter

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2006
This starter has been working out really well for me. I used this basic recipe but fed the starter twice a day for a week with 1/3 warm cup water and 1/3 cup flour. Right before I put it in the fridge I added a pinch of sugar and more flour/water. The 4 stars is because the results are much better if you feed it. I made San Francisco Sourdough Bread by Donna on this website.

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2006
This was absolutely amazing! The only change I was forced into was evaporated milk versus regular milk. I also left off the onion (I love onion, but wanted to try this without). 5++ stars. Will definitely make again.

Russell's Fish Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2006
I'm not quite sure what was different between mine and the other reviewers on here, but no one liked this at all. Even before adding the fish, the smell was not appetizing. Too bad, I was really looking forward to this.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
I made this recipe tonight, and it turned out great. I ended up using at least twice as many mushrooms (cremini) and a little more sherry/marsala. I also forgot to pound the chicken breasts. But it still turned out fantastic and extremely tender. My boyfriend said we have to make this again! I agree.

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
Very good recipe! I made a few minor changes. Instead of the peppercorns I just added the packet of seasonings that came with the brisket (it had peppercorns in it). Thankfully I didn't have to skim the fat off the top because I left it for a few minutes with a lid on the pan and the fat boiled out. :) I wouldn't have skimmed anyway due to the fact I didn't want to take the spices out too (they float). Also, instead of garlic powder I added a whole bunch of minced garlic. Very, very good.

Sherry Sour Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
This is a great base to a fantastic combination of flavors. I added a few things: shallots, garlic & mushrooms. I also used 1.5 cups of sourcream and 1/2 cup sherry (Oloroso - Cream Sherry) so I could put this on a bed of rice with more sauce. I only kept this in the oven for 40 minutes (35 minutes and then 5 more with some parmesean/romano cheese melting on the top).

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
Wish I could give 4.5 stars. I really liked this, but didn't care for the caraway seeds. I only did 1 tsp but it was extremely overpowering. The taste of the bread without it was perfect. A little dry on the outside, but still tasty. Used only 2 cups of raisins. Will definitely make again!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
This is a great starting point for Hummus. Following other's suggestions, I made a few changes/additions. I used 4 tablespoons of tahini, doubled the garlic (I'm a fan), left out the salt and added some cayenne pepper, basil/tomato feta and a bit of the juice from the garbanzo beans to make it creamier. I also mixed in the parsley & olive oil. Delicious!

Fresh Herbed Halibut

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
I made this last night with some fresh halibut, and it turned out great. I did NOT use the full cup of olive oil, as that seemed quite excessive. I maybe used about 1/4 cup which still was probably too much. I am thinking that is what makes this recipe 911 calories per serving. I cut up a 1.3 lb halibut fillet into 6 pieces and baked them in the oven at 375 degrees (F) for about 18 minutes.

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2006
I made this yesterday and liked the results. I made a few minor changes to the original recipe however. I did 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup evaporated milk & 1 cup half & half instead of the heavy cream, red potatoes with the skins on and added a bit of minced garlic (per another reviewer). I still think that's sticking fairly close to the original recipe, but with less fat & calories.
