What a great stew for those cold evenings! YUM! The meat turned out moist, tender and flavorful. My family couldn't stay out of it! I have already been asked to make it again!! I chose to use a roast and shred it before serving. I coated the meat with a mix of flour, garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper. I browned it on all sides prior to placing in crock pot. I used 2 cans of Swanson's beef broth and then water to cover the meat. Along with the spices listed, I used a McCormick's Beef Stew seasoning packet as mentioned from another reviewer... WOW wonderful! 30 minutes before it was done I added a brown gravy mix packet. It thickened up the broth nicely. I served with toasted french bread... SUPERB!!!
