Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
These are super easy and taste awesome. I had no problems getting the batter to stick. Just make sure the dogs are dry. Slowly put them in oil to allow the batter to set. I recommned using the deepest vessel possible to fry them in and make sure the oil is 350 degrees. Great recipe!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
This is amazing! The chicken is moist is very flavorful! I cooked for about 10 minutes and chicken was not fully cooked and sauce was nicely reduced so I put a lid on to hold in liquid and it was great! Serve with pesto mashed potatoes, and roasted cauliflower. YUM!

Prime Rib Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
This recipes is great and is a great`way to use up left over standing rib roast. I followed as written and added some extra pieces of meat. It came out a bit salty. It may have been the brand on broth I use so I would advise waiting to season with salt until half way through final simmer, then add if necessary. Overall this was fantastic and I am psyched I found something good to do with left over roast. I finally feel like I used everything.

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
If I could give this recipes more than 5 stars I would. I made as written, except for adding dried fuit and almonds in last 2 minutes of final cooking phase. The consistency, texture, and taste were EXACTLY what I expected. I loved that it is stove top and no-bake. Very easy to throw together in the morning for quick breakfast. Serve over yogurt and garnish with fresh fruit for a light and flavorful parfait.

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

This recipe is phenomenal and easy to follow. I used Pumpkin Pie Spice I recipe from this site and it was perfect. We served hot over vanilla ice cream and it tased just like Ben and Jerry's Apple Pie Ice Cream.

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Excellent recipe, easy to follow. I suggest cutting chicken into smaller pieces so it is more like a casserole than chicken baked in a sauce. I substituted frozen spinach for canned because we had that on hand. It's a little heavy in the garlic dept for my tastes so we cut that down. Next time I will probably saute garlic in some oil then give the chicken a quick brown in the pan than assemble per the recipe. Definitely adding this to regular rotation.

Beef Spaghetti Pie Ole(Italian)

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
I usually try not to review recipes if I have made changes but this was so good I had to pass it on. I used 3 medium diced tomatoes with a splash water because I did not have the canned tomato. I also used Italian season instead of cumin because I was out of it. This is an easy recipe to follow and the pasta pie crust is awesome. You could certainly spice this to your tastes and it could be different every time you make it. Next time I think I may use homemade Taco Seasoning for a more Mexican flare.

Kulfi

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
I have never had Kulfi, or even heard of it for that matter, but when I read the recipe it sounded so refreshing I had to try it. I read some of the comments and it did fill the entire blender so I needed to slowly add the whip topping in batches while pulsing, but a couple of extra minutes and some patience was greatly rewarded. This recipe is extremely easy to follow and produces the creamiest and smoothest ice cream I have ever had. I did need to substitute cinnamon for cardamon but I don't think it lost anything. Thanks for the great recipe we now have a new summer staple.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This recipe is everything you want in a recipe. It is accurate, easy to follow, and the end product is even better than you think it is going to be when read the ingredients for the first time. Just follow as written and this recipe is a great update to a classic Snickerdoodle. Snickerdoodles were the first thing I ever made without adult help when I was a kid and I fell in love with them. This recipe marries the best of what I think a classic Snickeddodle is with a great update. The maple syrup and maple sugar add a great earthy sweetness. It is worth the time and expense to fins good grade B maple syrup and maple sugar...as Alton Brown says..."your patience will be rewarded".

Emily's Famous Hash Browns

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
This recipe was perfect and the hash browns came out delicious, golden brown, and crispy. I read the reviews and some mentioned an oily taste, this usually means the oil is not hot enough when you put the food in.

Cinnamon Griddle Cakes

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
I made these this morning for breakfast and they were a huge hit. Recipe is easy to follow. They took a little longer to cook than I expected but my patience was rewarded. Lower temp yielded nicely cooked griddle cake while nicely browned on the outside. Glaze is very sweet but that is kind of the point. If you are looking for a different breakfast that is filing and satisfies that sweet tooth this is the one for you.

Baked Brunch Omelet

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
Very good recipe, very easy to make. I used whatever leftover bread we had(which was wheat and I would stick with any white bread next time). Didn't have hot sauce so I used chile garlic sauce. I was little afraid to make it too spicy for my 5 year olds so I went easy on the spice. This was a great recipe to use up the left over spiral ham from Christmas dinner and makes a very hearty brunch option to fuel through a cold winters day.
