About this Cook
I am just a good ol' southern belle that started off cooking with my mom when I was a little girl. I would sit on the counter and watch her prepare dinner, then cooked on my own once I was older. I am now married to the love of my life and I still love to cook for him and all his friends! I love reading cookbooks, especially before bed. I have my "notebook" of ideas, my recipes, things I think would work an such. I love the little thing! Its getting full so I should think about getting another one.
My favorite things to cook
I hate baking. I have been trying to experiment with baking, but I am so impatient that I hate waiting for it to bake. Im really getting into new things lately. More of my own creations. You can see my blog at Its a mixture of my own recipes and reviews of other ones I've tried. I really think just about everything needs a little cayenne pepper.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We cook huge meals at thanksgiving and christmas. No real big traditions, just the basic stuff. I eat way to much and smother my food in gravy. We are gravy people.
My cooking triumphs
I actually have a lot of recipes I'm proud of. My chik n' dumplings is pretty famous around my neighborhood. They are my test bunnies for new recipes. I don't think they mind too much.
My cooking tragedies
Ok, crab cakes. Just me saying them makes my husband want to vomit. They were bad, I mean really bad!!!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken
I did not like this at all. My husband really enjoyed it, which is y I gave it 4 stars.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
Like some of the other reviews I added garlic and pepper. After taking it out and slicing it was just slightly dry in the middle. I made a gravy starting w a roux, added the cooking liquid and about a tsp of Dijon mustard. Tossed in the meat and it was delicious. Horseradish and provolone cheese on a bun and it was magical. Also, I was out of beef so just added about a can and a half of water.
