I am a stay at home mom of four boys, hence username crazyboymom. I am currently pursuing a photograhpy business with a focus on maternity and newborn shots. I love the photojournalistic style that seems to capture life. I have been married for 16 years. I believe in being real, and I am learning to be a compassionate listener.
My favorite things to cook
New Recipes, Desserts, Asian Cuisine. I love duplicating restaurant recipes I have enjoyed, for example, the berry pie with lemon infused crust they serve at Granite City. Yum! I love blessing my family with desserts. Like Red Velvet Cake, Tira Misu, Banana Cream and Pecan Pie. I am very inspired by my very own cooking/baking guru Amanda, and by Cooks Country and Cooks Illustrated magazines.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My moms spaghetti and meatballs. It was my grandmothers (she was a Finish woman who married a Sicilian man) We used to go to my grandma's once a year, I think in the fall, and everyone! would gather in their 1900's home in South Minneapolis and feast. Fruit salad, italian bread warmed in the oven, big tender meatballs that simmered half the day. It has been too long.
My cooking triumphs
Using yeast! hahaha. I was always intimidated by it. As a child, I would hear about how the yeast could be killed, and I never wanted to try it. Thanks Amanda who taught me better.
My cooking tragedies
Two years in a row I undercooked our Thanksgiving turkey. My mother in law doesnt trust me with it any more, but she would never let me know it.
