Kristie's Chicken Spectacular

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2013
This was boring and sort of tasteless. I ended up pulling the cheese off and will just use the chicken in another recipe that calls for cooked chicken.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2013
These were amazing. I did add maybe an extra tablespoon of sugar and a whole teaspoon of vanilla. These had to be the best waffles I ever made with those simple changes

Aztec Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2013
It was good but my hunny and I both agree it seemed to be missing something. Will try again once we figure out what it was missing

Scotch Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
I did this however I baked the eggs instead of frying. They were good but a bit mushy from being baked. Will try again and use the fry method. I have had scotch eggs a few times though and the recipe is simple and straight forward for making them and such a nice heavy comfort food.

Scotch Eggs with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
I am only reviewing the mustard sauce as I used another recipe for the eggs but the sauce was amazing. It really finished the eggs nicely. I would recommend having everything ready before you start, including a bowl to pour it in because even after I took it off the heat it seamed to still keep cook until I got it into another container. My hunny said he will be finishing this off on chicken patties for lunch today.

Chocolate Cherry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
This was easy and tastes pretty yummy. The cake is a bit strange not what I would think of for cake but still very moist and rich. I had to bake mine maybe an extra ten minutes as it didn't set in 35 minutes but closer to maybe 45 minutes. I think next time I might add some extra cherries to the pie filling as mine seemed lacking in cherries but might just be the brand of pie filling I used.

Amish Cinnamon Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
MAde exactly as stated but skipped the apple as my loving hunny ate it out of the fridge. This is my favorite recipe to date to use the starter.

Amish Friendship Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
Made as stated above except used all oil and skipped the apple sauce. Mostly just because I didn't have any. I also replaced the walnuts with macadamias and it was okay. I mean it was good but nothing out of this world. Well the weekend rolled around and my hunny wanted French toast and we were out of regular bread so I cut this up and made French toast and let me tell you it was out of this world. I baked another batch of bread just so I can make French toast again.

Japanese Shrimp Sauce II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
This was amazing. It was really close to what we get in the Japanese steak house here. I did add maybe an extra 2 teaspoons of sugar, my hunny thought it was missing. Otherwise made exactly as stated and let it setup overnight in the fridge and it really brought our whole meal together.

Classic Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
I give this a four only because I did change it a bit. I almost didn't review for this reason but after I changed it I felt I needed to share. To start I did two eggs instead of one and I think I will add another the next time. I add half a regular onion on top of the green onion, more what I am use to with fried rice. I added about two cups of peas and carrots I had microwaved for maybe three minutes first, I can't have fired rice without peas. The other big change I made was I made Japanese Shrimp Sauce from this site to go with the meal and when I added the soy sauce I also added about 3/4 a cup of the sauce. Made it taste very close to the rice you get at the Japanese Steak house. My hunny did complain that the bacon added a strange texture so I think next time I won't cook it so long before I start adding other things to the pan.

Pork Tenderloin Diane

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
This was really amazing. I doubled the sauce and then put my cooked pork back in the pan and simmered well the rest of my dinner finished up. Made au gratin taters and garlic green beans with this and my hunny told me this was probably the best meal I have made when it came all together. Other than doubling the sauce I made exactly as stated and will plan on making this again soon.

Super Simple Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2013
Very simple and nice flavor. I made with orzo with parm and basil from this site and the whole meal really pulled together nicely. I did feel it needed a touch more salt but that might be a personal thing not a lack of salt in the recipe

Big Cheeseburger Pizza

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
Kind of like a big mac on a crust. My crust never really got crispy though which made the whole pizza greasy and limp. I will try again with a different crust and probably cut back on the dressing as it was a bit over powering

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2013
Nice flavor and pretty easy to make. Made exactly as stated but did use white pepper instead if black, mostly just for looks. My daughter even told me it is better than her grandpa's so this was a nice compliment. Will be making again soon

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2013
I loved it. I just couldn't stop testing it in the pan well it was still cooking. I made exactly as stated except I used thawed frozen asparagus because it was what I had on hand. The temp seemed a bit high but in the end it caramelized on the asparagus wonderfully. I did use chopped garlic in the jar as it was what I had on hand. I cooked it for ten minutes then took the pan of the heat but let it sit well I finished the rest of dinner, say five minutes and it was amazing. My hunny told me to make it again tonight. I use to think asparagus with parm cheese roasted in the oven was my favorite but I was so wrong

London Broil II

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2013
The marinate was the first one my hunny actually told me he liked on a piece of meat but totally the wrong cut of meat as even at medium it was super tough to eat. I think I will be using this marinated on some other cuts of meat in the future but never this pairing again.

BBQ Pork Pizza

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2013
This is one of those dishes you can't really decide how you feel about it but can't stop eating either. I made exactly as stated above but used a pre formed uncooked pizza crust. Changes we have discussed for next time is heating the pork bbq a bit before it is but on the pizza. Mostly we just feel that the cheese and other items didn't get long enough to cook since it was on top of the cold pork. For everyone that doesn't think pickles will work. Try them on it. For some reason it just does. I found myself wishing there was maybe a few more. Also in my cheese loving house there were complaints about not being enough cheese but more a personal thing than a need addition.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2013
This was really good. I made exactly as stated. I think the next time I will turn the crust down to light instead of medium as it got a bit dark but that is my machine not the recipes fault. My hunny was like a little kid with it and keep watching the bread maker and then was sitting on the floor with grape jelly and the leftover bag of bread when I got home the next day. Will be using this recipe as stated often in the future. I didn't have bread machine yeast but the active dry worked well in this recipe
