Amusement Park Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2004
Absolutely delicious! My mother who hates cornbread agreed to taste it to placate me and ended up eating two big pieces. Had a great sweetness to it. Perfect with chili and jalapenos would make a great addition.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2004
I really loved this. I had my doubts but the sauce turned out great and was an improvement over traditional alfredo sauces because the consistency stayed smooth and creamy even as it cooled. I did make one change and used one cup of half-and-half and one cup of milk. The recipe says that it makes four servings but it seems to make at least six. I'm going to use the left over sauce on some steamed veggies tomorrow for dinner. This is definately a five star recipe!!

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2003
Really enjoyed this recipe but for some reason it did not make an attractive presentation. The taste was really good but don't use store brand crescent rolls. Had to run out to the store and buy more because I tried to cut corners the first time and had to throw out the first batch of cooked dough - ick!

Aileen's Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2003
Couldn't get apricot nectar and had to settle for Guava juice but it turned out great anyways. Ended up accidently using a 12 oz can of limeade but it didn't deter from the taste. My guests and more importantly my five year old daughter loved it as did I. Will surely make it again.

Becky's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2003
I gladly give this recipe five stars even though I didn't have grapes on hand. I substituted some on hand crushed pineapple, 16 ozs, and it turned out fabulous. Made this for a party and loved it. Note: cut the salt down to 1/2 tsp.

Ham Salad II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2003
Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! I am not a big fan of ham salad but this was great. Ran the ham through the food processor to save a little time and would suggest cutting the mayo down a bit; start at 2/3 cup and add to taste. Added a little more sweet relish to make my mother happy and it worked out perfect.

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2003
Absolutely out of this world. I was hesitant about the dry leek soup mix but it adds a different flavor then the usual spinach dip that makes it stand out. To add a little color, suggest adding a little chopped red bell pepper or pimento.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2003
This was good but I guess that I was expecting that it would taste exactly like Outback's Alice Springs Chicken and it didn't. My husband and my mother both like it but didn't rave about it. I will surely make it again but will have to experiment with the honey mustard because there was a little something about it that I didn't like.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2003
My mother proclaimed this bread excellent and ended up eating it and only it for dinner last night. It was still warm when she tried it and she said that with a little butter, it was like a dessert. I accidently bought milk chocolate chips but they were delicious anyways! I did cook it for about 10 minutes longer then suggested and it turned out perfectly done. P.S. She ate it for breakfast also!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2003
I don't know if I can fairly rate this recipe since I made some changes to it but I think even the original would be delicious. I cut the recipe in half to 4 servings which feed three adults for two nights and left some for freezing. I also added cooked and sliced italian sausage links and some additional spices; minced garlic and italian mix to the sauce. The end results was absolutely delicious and would make a great meal to serve for company. I didn't want to make too many changes at once but next time I'll add sliced black olives and sauteed mushrooms. P.S. The sour cream sounded strange but added a delicious flavor.

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2003
Didn't marinade overnight but the ribs still turned out delicious. Used the "Dry Rub for Ribs" as others suggested and used country style pork ribs as they are favored in our household. We have a stainless natural gas grill and the 30 minutes of grill time even at low was way too much. Would probably not go longer than 15 minutes next time. To make sure that the inside is hot enough, let meat warm for a little bit, preferably to room temperature before grilling. Don't want the outside to cook before the inside is warm/hot. Used Sweet Baby Ray's sauce for dipping and loved it!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2003
Absolutely the best!!! Unlike the others, I wouldn't change a thing about the recipe. While not an everyday side dish due to the calories and fat, it is a perfect when you want to indulge and be naughty. Whole family loves them.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2003
I made this last night and my mother couldn't stop raving about it and my husband made a sandwich with the leftovers for breakfast. I was told to get rid of any other meatloaf recipes. I did make a couple of changes; cut the brown sugar in half but will try it as stated next time, glazed the top as my meatloaf pan has bottom drains and added a dry onion soup mix. Loved the ginger!!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2003
Absolutely delicious!! Substituted beef broth for water and added the following at the very end; 4 oz cream cheese, 4 oz sour cream and made a mixture of 2 tbl cornstarch to 3 tbl water. Very rich - would make an excellent dish for company!

Tasty Buns

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2003
Excellent recipe for hamburger buns which remind me of Fuddruckers but would not recommend them for dinner rolls. The rolls are a beautiful color and texture for hamburgers but are a little bland for dinner rolls.

Emily's Famous Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2003
I don't think I could ever go back to the canned sloppy joe mix after making this. My mother and husband loved it! Next time I'll probaby cut down a little bit on the peppers - one was more than enough and also cut the brown sugar to two tablespoons. Delicious!!!!

Angel's Yummy Bruschetta

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2003
OUT OF THIS WORLD!! My picky mother and husband both loved this. My mother who rarely eats a bite of bread ate two pieces. I did make a couple of previously suggested changes; added a tablespoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar. I tried it two ways; both with a little butter added before toasting and without, and it was better without the addition of butter. I used slices of cheese and think they would be better than using shredded. Loved it so much that I plan on making it as soon as the menu would allow it!! Delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freak'n Good Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
My family loved the flavor and the meat turned out very tender. I'm on a diet and was supposed to be eating a Lean Cuisine but took one bite of these and promptly fell off the wagon. Would suggest watching the grill heat, we have a big grill and the medium was too high, next time I'll grill over low.

Party Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2003
Made this for a dinner party and it went over with a bang. Would suggest adding a little butter to the recipe to make it a little creamier for serving.
