Wednesday's recipe is for a Thai inspired chicken, vegetables and rice. I like cooking with whole grain rice. I find it has more flavor and of course more texture than white rice. It's longer cooking time enables me to put the rest of the meal together. I ended up making this a little spicier… MORE

I've been getting the refrigerator sized seedless watermelons at a very good price in my area. This weekend's recipe is for a Watermelon Daiquiri. If you don't like having alcohol, you could substitue de-alcoholized dry white wine for the rum. (Don't use cooking wine). This is a cooling… MORE

I love that my husband cooks for himself. It is great that he cooks every Saturday night. However, his knowlege and preferences for cooking can get in the way when I cook. An example is this morning when he wanted me to make his scrambled eggs for breakfast. He was in a tizzy that he wouldn't… MORE

It is getting to hot to oven cook where I live. I'll do a little on the stove such as boiling pasta or rice. I have a microwave pasta florentine recipe on my website for Monday. I generally serve this as a side dish to grilled chicken. www.cjsrecipe.com. MORE

I love to develop new recipes. I have had 15 recipes published by Reiman publications, publishers of TASTE OF HOME magazine. I like to try at least one new recipe a week. My other interests that aren't listed above are running and horse racing. By profession I am a registered medical technologist currently working in microbiology at a local medical center.
My favorite things to cook
Soups. Main dishes for interesting evening meals. Simple baking like cookie jar cookies and quick breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I basically make Thanksgiving dinner like my mom did.
My cooking triumphs
Winning a runner up prize for my lasagne recipe when I worked for the Nestle corporation. (I was a part time R&D assistant for the Willy Wonka Candy Factory)
My cooking tragedies
Trying to make sweet and sour shrimp with deep fried shrimp. Coating came off the shrimp when I put the sauce on. My familiy refused to eat it. We were short of money then and it hurt to waste the food and then go get MacDonald's for dinner.
