This was supper:
Tuna and noodle casserole (no cheese in the recipe, but I did add grated pecorino on top).
Pineapple crisp for dessert. With ice cream.
Great comfort food, but I can feel my arteries hardening as I type.

After one week of the pantry challenge, we’re still going strong. Between milk and 2 two-liters of soda, we’ve spent twelve dollars. I think we’re going to end up going a little over budget in the end, because we do go through quite a bit of milk. I also intend to cheat.
When I decided on…

This is day two and I haven’t spent any of my twenty dollars yet, so I’m still ahead of the game.
Tonight for dinner we had “manburgers” as my boys call them. We used the canned sauce. Since buying it, I’ve discovered the homemade version of sloppy joe’s from this site, and I won’t be buying…

I’m done with the Food of Italy for now. I’m not sad about it.
I started off with gusto, but about two weeks in, it really started feeling more like a chore and less like fun. I have the attention span of a gnat- sad but true.
The final recipe I made was Braised Barlotti Beans. Here they…

Truffles are disgusting.
I called my little sister tonight and told her I feel like the kid who pointed out that the emperor was naked. Everyone oohs and aahs over truffles and they taste like... well, I'm a lady, so I won't say what I think about that.
Tonight for supper I made…

I'm up to 45 recipes from Food of Italy, but truth be told, I've been kind of lazy about cooking lately.
I also haven't photographed everything I've made, because like I said, I've been lazy.
But, I'm feeling a little more "back on track", so here's an update of the goings-on at the CP…

On Wednesday night I ventured back into the kitchen to make the starter for my Country-Style bread and I also made a soup called La Ribollita, which means “reboiled”, because you make it one night, then boil it again and serve it the next day. So, we had that for supper Thursday and took a…

Next Italian I see, I’m kicking their estremita. Just for coming from a country that has driven me to near madness in a single day.
First off, I should mention I have ADD. That’s going to explain a lot here in a minute.
I began my day by stealing from my kids. I’m not sure which kid, but…

I’ve had a few people email me about the Beef Cooked in Ragu recipe, so out of the goodness of my heart (and not at all because I haven’t quit thinking about it since I first made it a week and a half ago) I decided to take a break from veal week to make a tutorial on the subject.

Yesterday I made Roast Lamb with La Bandiera, which is a veggie and pasta dish. La Bandiera is the name of the Italian flag, whose colors are red, green and white. So, the pasta is also red, green and white.
For dessert we had Raspberry Sorbet. I’d made the…
