About this Cook
Down here in Central Coast Florida since late Aug. 2012. I still cook and bake and its so good to be around family again!
My favorite things to cook
There is just one of me but I do cook dinner almost every night. I love easy dishes on the nights I really don't feel like cooking. Grandmommy Capps lived in Rocky Mount, NC....Sundays were a holiday! Dinner was at 2pm. Leftovers were snacks later(dark thirty)....she was a great biscuit and piemaker. Being the oldest of 23 grandchildren, I was the BEST dishwasher! Hand wash everything in a washpan! I know....you've never heard of it??? You need one to play as your wash sink, and then you rinse in the kitchen sink.....It was fun.....no air dry either....someone had to dry ALL the dishes! I love my Sis for that!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have ham, blackeyed peas, collard greens, and corn muffins on New Year's Day for good luck! Peanut blossums are my favorite cookie for Christmas!
My cooking triumphs
"Banana Crumb Muffins" were delicious & gorgeous, looked store-bought!
My cooking tragedies
I have left the neck(in the bag) in the turkey in the past 5 years! I should know better! Always rememember to check BOTH ends of the turkey before you cook it! I'm Blonde...Sheesh!!

Cheesy One Pan Mac and Cheese
One of the best mac N cheese recipes I HAVE EVER had and so quick! Love the Pronto Pasta...no fail and so tasty! I used half and half and 2 tbsp of butter to sub for the heavy cream, worked perfect! Thank you Barilla! I will make this over and over...yes, I could CRAVE this...its that great!

Italian-Style Chicken Noodle Soup
I agree that this needs a few more herbs and flavors. I added onion, oregano, salt and pepper...but this is very quick and easy! Serve with garlic bread and a salad...very hearty soup!

Tomato Cucumber Onion Salad
So quick and easy! Excellent for a summer side dish! I added a little garlic powder and some parsley...so pretty.
