Chef John's Perfect Mashed Potatoes

Well, I've been making mashed potatoes for about 35 years and I have to say this is absolutely the best method for fluffy, flavorful mashed potatoes with the perfect consistency. I only have non-stick cookware so I did have to use one of the "banned" mashers but I have to say, they were still perfect! This is how I will make my mashed potatoes from now on.

Grands!® Monkey Bread

We enjoyed this but the sauce did not "caramelize" in the bundt pan. I scooped it out after done and put into the middle of the biscuits. Next time I'd bake this about 3-5 minutes longer as the inside seemed a bit doughy. I did add walnuts which made the recipe!

Bourbon Whiskey Meatballs

Delicious! I used a bag that was 26 oz of small meatballs. The sauce was just the right amount for 26 oz. I'd make this again for sure. I did serve with some steamed rice and yellow squash casserole.

Let me just add my 5 star review. Very stiff dough but it makes a great chocolate chip cookie. I did use the mini chocolate chips so they are very chocolaty.. but that's perfect for me!

Original Chex® Party Mix

Of course, this is the best chex mix recipe :) I did cut it in 1/2 and did the oven method, 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Excellent for football snacking :)

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Excellent recipe! I did cut it down to 4 servings and used homemade chicken broth. I also used 1 crown of fresh broccoli, chopped up. I also used my immersion blender when the broccoli was tender and then added the cheese, etc. I'd make this again for sure.

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwiches

We enjoyed this for supper. I added some diced ham slices along with 3-4 slices of precooked bacon. I scrambled the eggs just until barely set and proceeded. I like the egg wash with the pepper sprinkles.. I felt that made the little bombs :)

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

This is really one of the best casseroles I've made from AR. I loved how easy it was and not using canned soups. I followed the recipe exactly except for the bread crumbs on top. I used crushed Ritz crackers and it was delicious. I'll be making this again soon. Pure comfort food. I did use albacore white tuna so it was not fishy tasting at all. Thanks MVANWINKLE for posting this great recipe.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

These were ok, pretty strongly flavored but that's not the recipe's fault. I used margarine as the recipe stated and they really flattened and spread out. Still chewy but pretty disappointed with them. Of course, I took them to work, and they were all gone in 10 minutes, although I believe they would eat shoe leather if they thought it was home made! Anyway, probably won't be making these again.

This is absolutely delicious with the addition of the white wine. I used the tomatoes packed in oil, as that's what I had. I think it brought a lot of flavor with it. I love the flavors and sooo good served over spaghetti.

Paula T's Bacon Spinach Quiche

I loved the flavor of the quiche but next time I'd use my regular pie crust recipe. This one is a bit too heavy for our liking. I added some sauteed onions and mushrooms to the pie plate before pouring on the egg mixture. Very yummy flavor. I used fresh spinach and it worked out just fine.

Real Italian Calzones

Ohh, MY GOODNESS!! This is a mighty fine recipe and I'll be making it again and again. I like it better than any pizza I've ever made at home. I've never made a calzone and didn't know that it had ricotta. That was my favorite part of this recipe. I used pizza dough from Publix (BOGO free this week) and used a little more ricotta than called for. I used Sargento's Pizza Cheese instead of the cheddar. I did add some salt, pepper and garlic salt to the cheese mixture. I also layered very thinly sliced mushrooms and a pile of fresh baby spinach on the filling before closing it up. Oh my, you talk about great flavor and cutting the pepperoni up into tiny pieces really was perfect. Like I said, I'll be making this again and it's so versatile as long as you use the same cheesy mixture. The fillings could be of your choosing.. hamburger, ham, sausage, vegetarian.. put some onions, peppers and more inside. Thank you so much Jenny for posting this fantastic recipe.

Simple Country Ribs

Very good. Our gas grill wasn't working right so I just put them in a sheet pan lined with tin foil and broiled them for a few minutes on each side. These were very tasty. I did use the boneless country style ribs and reduced the sauce after boiling/simmering the ribs. I used the Bourbon Whiskey BBQ sauce recipe by Kevin on this site and it was perfect. Thanks Phoenix33_64 for posting this method. I bought some more country ribs to use this recipe again :)

Memaw's Lemon Sunshine Cake

I made this today and we just had a piece of it. It is very moist and very tasty and the frosting/icing is the best part. Anyway, if you are looking for a very moist, peachy, lemony cake, this is perfect. I used a bunt pan and it was done in about 47 minutes. Thank you Acygan for putting this recipe up!

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Let me add my 5 star rating to this great BBQ sauce. It's the perfect balance of sweet to smokey. I found a recipe to make country style ribs by boiling in the bbq sauce and then grilling when done. I didn't have enough of my favorite bottled sauce so found this recipe. It's something I'll make again and again, with items easily on-hand. Thanks Kevin for the great recipe!

Seasoning Salt

Absolutely perfect. I asked on the Buzz and Elle posted this recipe. I did use Beau Monde seasoning instead of the celery salt (didn't have any) and I think it was a good substitution. Thank you so much Elle for posting your simple, yet flavorful recipe. And.. I know what's in it!
