Pork Ribs Piquant

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2013
Very tasty.. but I don't think I'll put that much water that is called for because the sauce was so very runny. I only used 1 tablespoon of the dry mustard but otherwise followed the recipe. I'll try it again.

Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
This was quite tasty. I prefer my clam chowder better but was looking for something without bacon. I like that it's very low fat. I had to use fat free cream of chicken (no c.o. mushroom) but it was still good. I did saute the onions, carrots, and potatoes a bit before adding as I thought cooking in the thick soup wouldn't cook them completely. And next time I'll leave out the cayenne.. it's just not my favorite flavor.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
These are so good. I did use white chips and no walnuts. The chocolate is almost brownie like but still a perfect cookie. I'm almost sorry I found this recipe, it's absolutely perfect as written, but I want to eat a 1/2 dozen right now! They are going to work tomorrow so we won't be tempted here at home. * Update after taking them to work. I got so many compliments, and one of my co-workers said it truly was the best tasting, best texture and best aftertaste that he'd ever had in his 50 some odd years!! I take that as a high compliment. thank you Kathy for such a wonderful, easy recipe that made me look good :)

Cold Tuna Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
This was pretty good. I used corkscrew pasta so the sauce really stuck to it. It was a little too much celery for us. It was a good way to use up a can of tuna that I had to open and give the juice to our sick kitty. She loved the watery "juice" and I liked the salad ok.

Classic Bloody Mary

This worked out very nice! I used a dash of celery salt and quite a bit more hot sauce but the taste was right on. Thanks for posting this.

Jimmy Dean Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
Absolutely perfect! I made it 2 ways, one for a work function and one for us to eat (low fat). They both were fantastic. For my low fat version I used Egg Beaters and skim milk, 2% cheese. For the one I took to work this morning I used the full fat versions. It was a HIT with my team! I'll definitely be making this again.

Turkey Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
Absolutely spot on in the seasonings for this sausage. I didn't have marjaram so left that out but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. I made the Jimmy Dean Breakfast casserole with it and it was divine. Everyone who ate it thought the sausage was delicious.

Chef John's Cioppino

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2013
This is one of the best recipes here on AR. Chef John, you hit the nail on the head with this one. I followed the recipe exactly beside cutting the recipe in 1/2 for the 2 of us. I used about 1 1/4 lbs of fresh shrimp, 1 large claw of large snow crab, 1/2 lb mussels, and 1/2 lb cod filet, all fresh from Joe Patti's here in Pensacola, FL. We didn't care for the cod fish so when I make it again I'll leave that out and use all mussels, shrimp and crab. It's not cheap but it's truly a treat to be savored more than once in a lifetime. I had this back when I was a teenager and loved it then but just never seemed to have the nerve to make it myself. I am sooo very glad to have found this recipe. I had some fresh french bread for dipping in that lucious sauce. I can't wait to make it again. Thank you again Chef John for a wonderful recipe.

Breakfast In A Glass

Pretty good. I did use a few more frozen strawberries than what was called for. I also used vanilla fat-free yogurt. Skim milk. Tasty enough.

Beef Tips and Merlot Gravy with Beef and Onion Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
The Worcestershire was so strong it was not edible. I was so sad because one of the best photos was on the front page so I decided to make for dinner. I'm not sure what could have saved it. We did strain out the meat and mushrooms, I gave them a quick rinse and we were able to eat it. Such a strong flavor is not our type of meal. So sorry.

Forgotten Party Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
I made these last night using the method for the quick timing. I preheated the oven to 400 and then turned down to 200 when I put the cookies in. Baked 1 hour and then left them in the turned off oven for 1 more hour. I piped this goodness onto the Pam sprayed cookie sheet, some with a maraschino cherry and others plain. I prefer the plain ones. For a NON-FAT recipe, I'll be making this again. It comes together so quickly and reminds me of cotton candy. I did use good vanilla but I might try another flavoring some day :)

Chef John's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
This hit the spot!! Absolutely perfect consistency with just the right amount of tang. I added a bit more than a dash of Worcestershire sauce but otherwise followed the recipe. No cayenne for us but the simmering for at least an hour is what makes this just so yummy. Thanks Chef John for another fantastic recipe. I've been making another sloppy joe recipe from here but if I'm not in a big hurry this will be my go-to recipe.

Mie Goreng - Indonesian Fried Noodles

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
This was absolutely delicious. I cut the recipe in 1/2 and it really was plenty for 3 servings. I added quite a bit more cole slaw mix (cabbage) but otherwise followed the recipe to a tea, using only 1/2 tablespoon of oil for the whole meal. I didn't have sweet soy sauce so I used citrus infused soy sauce and it made it really good. I will definitely be making this again when I get a "hankerin'" for chinese food. Thank you Felicia for a wonderful recipe.

Linda's Fake and Bake Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
I also put the chicken on a rack in a baking sheet. The underside still was soggy but the flavor was ok for baked chicken. It will never compete with real fried chicken but one has to do what one has to do :) Thanks Linda for posting your recipe.

Smoked Oyster Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
I, too, use 8 oz of cream cheese and it has plenty of smoked oyster taste. I love the Worcestershire sauce flavor so I always add a bit more. I've made this recipe for years and don't know why I didn't review it sooner. It's something that can be put together at the last minute and served. It's not the prettiest dip, but it works on flavor!
