BBQ Feta and Hot Banana Pepper Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2014
Simple but gourmet! I love the cheese mixed in with the burger; would make camping so simple. That said I made these on my stovetop. Also, the banana peppers eliminated any need for pickles for topping. Next time I will add some extra feta since with the suggested 1/2 cup you could hardly tell it was there. Could also use some basic spices (but not necessary)

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Just like out of the package except saves me so much money! For Christmas I made a huge batch and divided into decorated spice containers for an addition to home-made gift baskets; it was a big hit! I always have some in my spice rack now! Thank you!!!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Meh... I was really excited about this recipe because my boyfriend is a HUGE taco fan and I'm not a huge fan of making them. It was ok but a slight let down. We both refer to it as 'taco-mush' because even after doubling the tortilla layers it is just so mushy! Good flavor though (note-not great, but good) Points for freezing well for reheating. I think I will stick to my usual taco casserole recipe.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Yum!!!! I always thought cabbage rolls were really difficult and time consuming to make! Not so!! I took the advice of another reviewer and froze the head of lettuce then let thaw to make the leaves easier to work with-WHAT A TIME SAVER!!! As I put them into the slow cooker I thought "as long as they taste ok this is the way to do it"-freezing the head of cabbage IS THE WAY TO DO IT!!! I also use ground turkey or chicken because I can't eat red meat-this works out perfectly-and I add extra rice to make it a bit more economical. I don't like when people change so many things about a recipe then say 5 stars but I feel the changes I've made are more for saving time/money and the original would be even better. *Note I do like non-stringy (very soft cabbage) cabbage rolls-like well boiled cabbage-that is how it turns out with the freezing method.

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
WOW!!! I had some leftover cabbage from cabbage rolls and made this instead of throwing it out like I often do... this recipe is a permanent new addition to my cabbage roll nights! The cabbage was frozen (for cabbage rolls) but I thought it worked very well for the soup. I just eyed out the amount of pepper and I may have added more than called for but I found the pepper overwhelmed the soup a bit so I will cut back next time (my boyfriend disagreed but he loves peppery food) So delicious and healthy/guilt free to eat. Thanks for a great recipe!!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
This recipe caught my eye because it had very few ingredients... it shows in the final product; although it is basic, it is not bad (very tasty, my boyfriend devoured it, I like it with a bit of extra sour cream). I made the mistake of making this soup as a meal... this soup does NOT eat like a meal and will leave you extremely unsatisfied... give it a fighting chance and make it as a side/to compliment a main dish.

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Meh... both my boyfriend and I were craving really great split pea soup. The first time I made this I added some extra spices-big mistake, not required at all. Following the recipe exactly I had a better outcome but I don't like that the soup settles the way it does and feel like it isn't quite what I was looking for. 3 stars for health value and ok taste but nothing to write home about.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
OH. MY. GOD! Chicken pot pie is one of my favorite foods but I've never tried to make one from scratch. (I wasn't even aware I could cook chicken by boiling in liquid!) but I followed this recipe-the only change I made was fresh mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, frozen peas, and canned corn-and it is SOOOOO AMAZING. BIG though... I couldn't believe there were leftovers and I could hardly get it in the casserole dish! I wasn't aware I could cook like this! WOW!! MMMMM

Mother's Banana Bread

Simple Basic Kind of boring (I add cinnamon and vanilla and just use this recipe when I lack the ingredients to make my favorite banana bread recipe) Hard to screw up though and nothing 'wrong' with it, its just nothing special

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2013
This was amazing!! Moist and flavorful and cooked to perfection easy peasy!! I cut the hot sauce in half as other reviewers suggested and was glad I did, still had a bit of a kick but didn't overpower the AMAZING taste. It didn't need any kind of sauce or seasoning once cooked (although I used ketchup to draw 'laces' on my football shaped loaf and that was a nice little addition). The recipe calls for 1.25 lbs of ground turkey, I used ground chicken because that's what I accidently grabbed from the store... I had to get 2 1lb packages but next time will just use 1lb and hopefully it will be just as good. MMMmMMmMMmMmm!!!

Classic Bran Muffins

They are what they say they are! I make them with no raisins and they are good. The only way they could be better is if they were fluffier but I ALWAYS think that about muffins.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2013
Meh. I liked the contrast between the tart blueberries and the sweet topping (which I altered to have less butter), but other than that these were pretty bland. They are a real cake-like muffin with no real nutritional value (might as well be eating a cupcake) but not light and fluffy like you would want a snack or deli treat to be. They were too heavy and flaky for my liking. An ok change from my usual blueberry muffin recipe, but likely won't be making again anytime soon.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2013
I'm on a hunt for a perfect banana bread recipe and I feel like this is close but not quite there. It has a really nice color and texture but doesn't seem to cook evenly. Extra 1/4 cup of banana tasted better than the 1 cup called for. Considerably less cooking time than the recipe calls for, as little as an hour for really moist bread and 70 mins for really well done. Even doing that though I find the edges are borderline over-cooked by the time the center is finished-which is why I only give 4 stars.
