Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread

Reviewed: May 12, 2005
I made this once to give it a try. LOVED it! Only changes I made when making it again was to put a dash of cinnamon in the dough, added powdered milk and skipped adding the milk (to keep the dough more elastic instead of sticky) and soaked the raisins in water for about an hour before starting the recipe for the bread machine. My whole family loved this recipe so much I made 15 loaves for a bake sale and sold out in less than an hour because I offered samples. Thank you Joey for this awesome recipe!

Jalapeno Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
This is a fun jan to make. Very simple and looks really pretty! It is sweet and sassy! It does not have near the heat that jalapeno jelly has so if you are looking for a tamed down version of a hot pepper spread, this would be it. It is wonderful on bagels and cream cheese. I made a quick fruit dip stirring this in with cream cheese and a couple of tablespoons of cream. Thanks for sharing this recipe

Best Ever Brisket

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
I hope I can stop licking my plate long enough to write this review! I made the recipe as written and finished the last hour of cook time on the grill using indirect heat. WOW! Hubby and daughter stuffed themselves and I have to say that the only bad thing about this brisket, is that we were too full to take our evening walk!!I have been known to eat leftover pizza for breakfast, but I think I will have a brisket sandwich come day light. :D

Peggy's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I was going to make my "regular" broccoli sidedish with lunch today but saw this recipe discussed on the exchange and just had to try it. YUM! I didn't have the bacon ranch dressing so I added crumbled bacon that I had leftover from breakfast. My mother-in-law wants me to make another pan of this so she can take it home with her today. If you don't have cream of chicken soup cream of mushroom would work or cream of broccoli. I am anxious to make this with one of those so my son who is vegetarian can enjoy this as well!

Green Tomato Mincemeat

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
This is a great recipe for using up the last of your tomatoes that won't ripen by the end of the gardening season. It is great as a pie filling but we like it as a pancake, waffle,or ice cream topping too. ******You don't HAVE to add the suet to this recipe and it is still great.****** I am not opposed to adding suet,it is just my personal choice and it keeps the recipe vegan friendly.

Venison Gyros

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I just keep eating this and I am more of a fish or chicken person!! I thinly sliced a backstrap and marinated the meat for about 6 hours.I cook a lot of venison and this recipe is going to be made year round. I can't wait to be able to throw some on the grill. YUM I served the meat on Artisan flat bread with sour cream and raw onions as a garnish. But the meat is sooooo good all by itself that garnish is not necessary.

Tangy Mustard

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
HELLO magnificent flavor!!!! I couldn't wait 2 whole weeks to give it a taste so I dipped my spoon into it to try and ended up making sandwiches with it as soon as it came out of the blender. I used it on sharp cheddar and pastrami sandwiches and it held up very well against those strong flavored foods. My husband says we will NEVER purchase mustard again. I highly recommend making this if you enjoy a good hardy mustard!

Creamy Horseradish Garlic Spread

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
I made this the Saturday evening before Father's Day. I was planning on tossing it in the cooler along with veggies for a snack at the lake on Sunday. By 11:00 Saturday night it was gone! Can you say "make a double batch!"? I made it again on Tuesday and used it in tortilla roll ups with pastrami. YUMMY

Tofu Turkey II

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
This is a really easy and great recipe. I read some of the reviews before making this for my son who is vegan. BEWARE to those who are planning on using boxed stuffing mixes as recommended by some reviews. Lots of them have added dried chicken or turkey for flavoring and most of them contain gelatin. Check box ingredients first if staying vegan.

Venison Salami

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
I think this is a great recipe! The only change I would suggest for those who think it comes out dry is to wrap the logs in tinfoil and poke tiny holes in the foil. That way some of the moisture can escape but the meat will not be as dry. It will still firm up nicely and once unwrapped and cooled for a few minutes before putting in the fridge, it will still have a great color and texture. I have made this many times and it freezes very well.

Chocolate Covered Cherries

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
Great recipe! I found that by "dusting" my hands with powdered sugar while wrapping the sugar dough around the cherries went a lot faster and was less messy. I have made these lots of times and I tweaked the recipe just a bit by adding a few drops of almond extract to the dough to give the finished candy more of a cordial flavor.

Rob's Quacker Bites

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
Finally a recipe I can use for a duck that has been skinned! We used to pluck our ducks but hubby does taxidermy, so now we just skin them and losing the fat makes the meat dry. This is way more exciting than just barding the meat. Thanks Karab! :)

Easy Canned Venison

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
We love canned venison and with several deer hunters in our house this is a great way to use some of the meat. People that swear they won't eat venison, love this and usually ask to take a jar home. :) This can be processed in quarts too. Just adjust your time in the pressure canner to 90 minutes.

Secret Ingredient Pico de Gallo

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
We loved this! I did add a little bit extra cilantro but ONLY because I wanted to finish using what I had left in the fridge. I am making another batch soon to take to a pickle loving neighbor. He puts pickles in almost everything but I think this will surprise and thrill him!

Roasted Chickpeas

These are a great little snack when you want something besides nuts or seeds. So easy to make. Some reviewers had a problem with them not staying crunchy. Be sure they are COMPLETELY cool before you store them.

Excellent Venison Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This is really tasty! I didn't have ground venison thawed out so I used cubed venison round steak. I had a part of a bag of peas so I tossed those in . This is one of those delicious recipes that you will want to make often. Great comfort food! No leftovers here because we ate it too fast.
