About this Cook
I grew up in the heart of Southwestern Louisiana, Cajun Country, Lafayette. It seems my passion for cooking was inspired when I was very young. Not only by my mother, but my grandmother Janie aka Red. While cooking, she would tell me stories of her growing up and her cooking experiences. I was hooked from that point. My email is: miznjm@aol.com.
My favorite things to cook
Italian food is no doubt my passion and favorite food to cook. French would be next because of my heritage.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In the kitchen cooking and everyone has a roll to play whether cutting onions or telling stories. Traditions equal treasured memories.
My cooking triumphs
Lasagna, grilled chicken fettuccini, smoked turkey, spicy turkey roll, pepperoni roll and finally...Savoca Roll (named after a small town in Sicily which I think is the best place on earth). On the sweet side, fudge, pumpkin roll and brownies.
My cooking tragedies
Ravioli - still not sure what happened but ouch they just desegregated. The inside mixture was great but that was about it!

Red Velvet Cupcakes
These turned out great. I was looking for a recipe that I could use my new piping bag and I think I had more fun decorating! Placed them on a bed of Jordan almonds.
