About this Cook
I'm up there in age, I come from one Italian & one German parent. Grandparents born in Italy & Germany. So, therefore I've learned to cook all sorts of foods. I'm known as the "Chicken Lady" because I have 26 hens and 3 roosters, they where part of my healing process after all my cancer treatments where over. They are like "Chicken Soup for the Soul" Being a cancer survivor, I now work charities for my community to help with the cause. I feel very blessed!
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian! Grilled foods, Steaks,Ribs, chicken w/ charcoal only) Fresh vegetables from my garden, I like to put them up, canning and dehydrating Fresh spices to cook with from the garden which I also dehydrate.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is the home made pasta sauces from scratch. My Gramps from Northern Italy taught me to make my first sauce when I was just 5 years old. I've made many variations in my 54 years of cooking since, from marinara style to white sauces and meat sauces, etc. YUM to my tum!!!
My cooking triumphs
BBQ dinner served to 300 people at a retirement gathering. My hubby volunteered me, oh my was I nervous!! I done it all myself and it was wonderful. I had Boston Butt which I made some as pulled pork,and some was sliced. Along with it I made real home made baked pork & beans which I even used the browned pork fat from the roasts & (secret family ingredients)in with my pork & beans. I made delicious coleslaw and potato salad for a couple of the other sides and as an X-tra surprise I also made my famous Brunswick Stew using the pork I BBQ'd along with all the fresh veggies that came from my garden, corn, onions, potatoes, okra, tomatoes and fresh spices to boot. Served a variety of rolls, breads, (I did not bake these)The meal was truly enjoyed by all!!.
My cooking tragedies
My tragedies is anything baked!!! Better stick to poppin fresh or a box. (HA-HA) BUT so true. If there was enough space i could tell you about my rising dumplings that took the lid way up high and ended with NO broth left for chicken.

Pumpkin Mochi
I made both a 13x9 and got 9 cupcake size. Used my fresh Thanksgiving Pumkin to make my own fresh pumpkin puree. Following directions exactly, but the individual size cupcakes, I cooked 30 minutes only......Quite DELISH, and Quite Simple! Thanks, may be my New Thanksgiving Tradition! ;*)

Cajun Spiced Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Easy & Wholesome, delish! I will make these again. Followed exactly, except my seasoning was Slap yo Mama, Cajun Spice, Thanks for sharing.

Pumpkin Casserole
Yes I tried it, I loved it. Simple to make, simply delish!!!! I've always loved pimpkin pie but, I don't eat the crust, THANKS for sharing. I'll be bringing this as a side for Thanksgiving get together with the family.
