About this Cook
Baby boomer; former(?!!)Hippie; mostly vegetarian, husband complete veg, son is beyond vegan; Mid-West attitude with California tweeks...LOL! Live in India most of the year.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, especially pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Paternal Grandmother top-notch bread maker; Maternal Grandmother lovingly cooked large German-style feasts, a tradition carried on by my excellent mother. Maternal Aunt best pie maker. Mother mixed in a Martha Stewart touch into her entertaining, before Martha was out of her training bra.
My cooking triumphs
Aloo Ghobi, literally translated from Hindi as Potatoe/Cauliflower curry. Walnut, cheese loaf - a vegetarian version of meatloaf, not my own recipe but from "Good Food w/o Meat" a book printed in 1974...the year my son was born. Add mushroom gravy to that, on mashed potatoes and it's to die for!Dutch apple pie; guacomole; artichoke fritatta; Chili soup from scratch, with corn bread (when in the U.S.A.)
My cooking tragedies
Tandoor chicken!!!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler
Unfortunately...an maybe I did something wrong, don't know....but this turned out to be too cake-like. Was hoping it would be more of a fruit slump...a term I first heard about from "Good Foord w/o Meat" in 1974....LOL!
