Poor Man's Hamburger Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
Great start for a meal to suit us all. Took lots of ideas from comments from others. Scaled the recipe for 4 - I had only 1-1/2 pounds of HB. Added a packed of AuJus gravy mix, subbed 3 cloves minced garlic for garlic powder. Sweated one yellow, sweet onion with minced garlic. Then added 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 soup can water, l soup can water, 1 t Worchester Sauce. Lots of black pepper as we like that. Served with elbow mac and steamed green beans. THE ENTIRE family loved every bite and wanted more!!! SO Easy, SO quick, and so satisfying. Thanks, Rhonda35 for a great recipe

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
YES!!! Thanks Terryn for a great recipe. Like others, I tweaked to our taste. Exchanged one can of broth for a can of fat free cream of chicken soup. Exchanged black beans for pinto beans - thats what I had on hand. Started with diced onions, celery, and green bell pepper sauteed til soft in EVOO (about a cup total of the mirepoix). Had two huge cooked chicken breasts in fridge, so diced those. Thanks to others, I topped with monterey jack cheese, sour cream, and avocado. Also had limes - we love those - And made some Mexican corn bread. Quick, Easy and oh so creamy good. Look forward to a bowl (only one leftover!) for lunch tomorrow. Thanks again, Terryn.

Savory Italian Sausage Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
WOW My hubby does NOT really like alot of pasta. He ate about half of this and made sure to mention how much he'd like the leftovers for his lunch!! This is really easy, cheap, and oh so tasty. Takes some time on the stove (or the crockpot - which I will try next time), but so worth it. I did add the celery as mentioned in one of the reviews and had no mushrooms. Thanks for a great addition to our menus and our budget.

Merwin's Shrimp Gumbo

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
Made this for the superbowl party. WOW Not a drop left and this made a huge pot. Decided, like others, to leave the shrimp out and have sausage and chicken gumbo. SO good. Thanks Merwin for a keeper. This will be a go to for parties. It is such fun to cook with friends and family. We had a party in front of the tv and in the kitchen!

Baked Mushroom Thighs

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Thanks Twinkles - this is SO good. And easy. Perfect for my Sunday - my husband spent the week at our cabin eating mostly sandwiches and toaster treats. This made me look like an expert cook AND he kept telling me I shouldn't have gone to all the trouble just for him!! This is easy, mostly healthy, and easy to keep the ingredients on hand for the next Sunday night supper. This is definitely a keeper. thanks again

Cheesy Creamed Spinach

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Bren is absolutely correct. This is so much better than any pre-made or store bought.Just served this to my gorgeous husband who doesn't like green stuff. He ate about half of the entire recipe!! Served with garlic bread and some oven fried chicken. Of course I had no heavy cream but googled the substitute(2/3 c whole milk and 1/3 cup melted butter) REALLY good and easy. Will make this as long as our spinach lasts. thanks for a great dish

Reuben Sandwich II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
LOVE this sandwich. It is now among my "quick - go to - dinners" for after a late day at work, shopping, or play. We all enjoyed this. Relied upon the reviews to help and used several suggestions, ie, heat the sauerkrat, and toast the bread to our liking. Really good / really easy/ really quick. This MAY just be perfect. thanks

Berdean's Cube Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
OMG This is SOOO good. And now I feel like I've been wasting my time cooking cube steak any other way. How EASY. My husband, a home grown picky eater, ate three servings and was dissappointed when there were no leftovers. My Mom was so complimentary (not an oft occurence). Really going to be a go -to recipe for me. Love everything about it. I DID deglaze the pan with a bit of Marsala wine, but otherwise DO NOT MESS with this

Mushroom Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
OMG this was so easy and so good!! The entire house smells so wonderfully. I DID use some of the advice from other reviewers - deglazed pan with Marsala wine, & added cream to the sauce. Finshed off in the oven as I still had some chores to finish. Had over wild rice with steamed broccoli and carrots. EVERYONE ate everything. Thank you for another great meal to add to our rotation. I can't wait to share this with our daughters..

Slow Cooker London Broil

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
I had everything for this meal except the mashed potatoes. BUT evidently brown rice was OK as the entire family loved this !! I did cut back on the dry onion soup mix to save sodium, but this gravy is such a hit - A welcome addition to the meal plan as well as the budget - Easy and Good. Hard to top that combination. Thanks Merri C - our family loved this.
