Meat Loaf Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
Really enjoyed this. Sprinkled a little Lawry seasoning salt and garlic salt on the meat while browning with onion and a little chopped green pepper. Added frozen corn to pan just before the meat was done. In the bowl I put 2 Tblsps. of ketchup, 2 Tblsps. of Worcestershire sauce and the egg, mixed up and added the ingredients in the frying pan. Mixed and put in casserole dish (did not use a pie crust to save fat and calories). Made Hungry Jack Instant mashed potatoes and spread over meat mixture. Sprinkled top with Sargento 4 Cheese Mexican blend and baked for 25 minutes. Will definitely be making this again.

Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
Very good. I boiled whole wheat noodles in a separate pot. In my large Dutch oven I put 3x's the ingredients called for, using a large package of chicken thighs with skin to make a good flavorful broth, added a can of vegetable broth, chicken broth, and enough water to cover the ingredients, a little dill and a bay leaf. When the pot came to a boil I turned it to simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Removed thighs and pulled the meat off and added back to pot. To serve I put some noodles in the soup bowl and added the soup. Had enough to freeze for 2 more meals. Easy and delicious.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
I have made many roasts in my slow cooker but I have to say this was one of the best. Besides seasoning the roast before browning with salt and pepper, I also sprinkled a little Lawry salt and garlic powder on it. We wanted mashed potatoes so I did not add them to the slow cooker. Excellent recipe, will be making my chuck roasts this way from now on. 9-21-11 Made it with the potatoes, carrots, and onions this time, delicious.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
10 stars from me. As many reviews suggested I used baking soda in place of the baking powder. Added 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract and 3 medium bananas, mashed. Baked in an 8x8 glass dish for 40 minutes. It was in the oven for about 5 minutes when I realized I had forgotten to add the chocolate chips so I put them on the top hoping they would sink in but they didn't. What flavor this has. Update, should have made 2, this is going fast.

Hawaiian Nut Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Very good. I used a 20 oz. can of crushed pineapple, drained well because the store did not have a 15 oz. and I did not want to waste any. I used pecans in place of the walnuts and tossed in a little coconut as suggested in other reviews. Will be making this again, easy and tasty.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
I changed the serving size to 18 and calculated the ingredients so I would have enough to frost a 2 layer cake and the middle. I did have a little extra. Substituted heavy cream for the evaporated milk because I needed to use it up. Tastes great.

Chicken Crescent Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2011
Received a "thumbs up" from hubby. Had to change a few things because I did not have the right ingredients in the house. Used cream of celery soup in place of the mushroom and Sargento 4 Cheese Mexican for the Swiss. Did not have water chestnuts or mushrooms so just omitted them. After putting the soup, mayonnaise, sour cream, onion, and chicken in the saucepan,(also added some thin sliced carrots I had cooked from the night before)I sprinkled some Lawry Seasoning Salt and black pepper in the pan. Definitely will make this again.

German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
Delicious! I made 4 pork chops in an 11x7 pan. Used a 14oz. can of sauerkraut, 1 McIntosh apple and 1 Gala apple, 1 onion and 1 cup of brown sugar(will use less brown sugar next time). Did not have caraway seeds. Served with buttered whole wheat noodles and asparagus sauteed in olive oil with minced garlic. Excellent dinner.

Steak Mix-Up

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
After reading the reviews, this is what I did. Chopped up a sweet onion and green pepper, minced 3 fresh garlic bulbs and cut my NY strip steaks(which I needed to use up, next time I will use beef cubes) into thin pieces, sprinkled with Lawry seasoning salt. Put the oil in my cast iron skillet and added those ingredients, sauteed for about 10 mins. over med-low heat. Sprinkled some pepper, chili powder, worcestershire sauce, and beef bouillon granuales over that and also added a can of golden mushroom soup and a can of diced tomatoes(omitting the juice), a little milk and about 3 Tblsps of cream cheese. Simmered for about 30 mins. Served over thin spagetti. A keeper, will be making this again.

Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
Followed the recipe and Kristin's suggestions from 1st page of reviews. Not really thrilled with this cake. A little dry and not much flavor. I made a cream cheese frosting using mascarpone and cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract that was very good for the frosting.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
This is so easy and has such flavor. I did not have a red bell pepper so I used pimento and it worked out great. Also did not use the almonds. People were looking for more, will have to make extra next time.

Cream Cheese Dessert Wedges

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
Excellent recipe. Doesn't get any easier. I accidentally used double the amount of biscuits. Won't do that again. I baked the biscuits as directed for 1st baking, took them out and sprinkled 1/2 the cinnamon/sugar mixture over it(I made double as suggested by many). Followed the rest of directions. This is delicious warm or chilled. Can't wait to make it again using the correct amount of biscuits.

Strawberry Cake and Frosting I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
Followed other reviews and pureed the strawberries in my food processor. Very easy to make. I did not use the frosting on this recipe. I tried the Fluffy White Frosting which almost tastes like a marshmallow frosting and I added a little strawberry extract. Very tasty. Should be made the day before serving, much more flavor the 2nd day.
