Swirled Peanut Butter Cup Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2013
If you love chocolate and you love peanut butter cups you will love these brownies. I used Duncan Hines Milk Chocolate brownie mix. Took them to a Christening party and they were all gone in just a 1/2 hour. Will definitely be making these again.

Delicious. Perfect as written. Made mixture aday ahead of time. This would be good on baked potatoes, crackers, dip for vegetables and I'm sure I will find more items to use it on. A keeper.

Mexican Cornbread Salad

Very disappointed. This looks so pretty. Served it at a birthday party. Out of 10 adults only 1 said it was just okay.I guess it depends on personal taste.

Broccoli and Cheddar Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2013
Made this for the RECIPE GROUP this week. I doubled the broccoli, milk, and mustard and used 7 eggs. Discovered I was out of oregano so used Italian seasoning in its place and omitted the thyme as it is in the Italian seasoning. Added a little chopped onion and minced garlic. Left the cheese amounts the same. It took almost all the mixture to fill the 9" deep pie crust so doubling is definitely necessary. Made a mini crustless quiche with the leftover. The quiche was good but not what you would say mmmm this is really good. Unless I see some new reviews with good suggestions on improving the taste I probably would not make this again.

Gelatin Poke Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2013
Made a lemon cake and used lime jello to pour over the cake. Frosted with lemon dream whip frosting which is made by beating 1 (3.9 oz.) lemon instant pudding, 1 envelope of Dream Whip, and 11/2 cups of milk until stiff. Keep refrigerated. Nice summer dessert. UPDATE-next time I will double the jello because I didn't feel there was enough to fill in the holes but will probably only use about 1 1/2 of it.

Ricotta Cookies III

Cookies are delicious and so easy to make. I used all butter for the glaze because I had no shortening in the house and used 1% milk. Will definitely be making these again

Pizzelles II

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2013
This was the first time I made pizzelles. Couldn't seem to get the right amount of mixture to put on the pizzelle iron. It would ooze out the sides or there wasn't enough. Hopefully next time I will get it right. I used butter, left out the anise extract & added 3 Tbls. Vanilla extract. The Grandkids & adults all loved them. Next time I will make them using the anise extract. Made about 4 dozen I think, they kept disappearing off the cooling racks. Takes time cooking them but well worth it.

Pudding Breeze

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2013
Everyone loved it. Used pistachio pudding this time. Pretty color for Easter. Next time I am going to use chocolate pudding & slice some bananas into it. Had a problem serving it. Crust stuck to the bottom so next time I will spray the bottom of the pan with Pam. It's a keeper.

Snickerdoodle Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
Everyone loved this cake. I sprinkled some cinnamon & a little vanilla extract into the batter. Doubled the cinnamon & sugar for the top but put 1/2 the batter in the pan, sprinkled 1/2 the cinnamon-sugar mixture on and put the rest of the batter in the pan sprinkling the rest of the cinn.-sugar mixture on top. Made a Cinnamon Cream Cheese frosting which was very good but a little to sweet for me. Next time I will try a glaze or a frosting that isn't so sweet.

Easy and Delicious Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
After reading some reviews I wasn't sure if I should try this recipe. I put frozen, boneless, skinless chicken tenderloins in the crock pot with the Italian dressing and cooked them on low for 3 hours. Microwaved the cream cheese for 30 seconds to soften and mixed in all the ingredients, adding 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, and reducing the chicken broth to 1/4 cup. Poured it into the crock pot and stirred. Let cook another 5 hrs. on low. Served over spaghetti. The sauce was a little thin but very tasty. I will be making this again.

Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I used light corn syrup. Best pecan pie I've ever tasted. I did over bake it a little. It was the first time I made one and I wasn't sure how to tell when it was done. Will bake it just 1 hour next time.

Patty's Mashed Turnips

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
This was so good. Couldn't stop doing taste tests & decided I better not have anymore so there would be enough to serve on Thanksgiving. The only thing I did different was to use only about 1/8-1/4 cup half & half to make them the consistency we like.

Chocolate-Filled Crescents

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
I had 2 tubes of crescent rolls I needed to use up so I tried different fillings. Some just chocolate chips,to plain. Mixed some cream cheese and Polaner seedless Strawberry all fruit, very good, even the grandkids liked that one. Tried cream cheese with some mini chocolate chips, just ok. Mixed some granulated sugar and cinnamon together, these were the best ones. Grandkids want me to get more crescents so I can make the sugar/cinnamon ones again. Sprinkled granulated sugar on top of all of them as soon as they came out of the oven. What an easy and quick snack.

BREAKSTONE'S Creamy Layered Enchilada Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
What an excellent recipe. I did not have any ground beef so I cut chicken breasts into bite sized pieces and followed the recipe. I lined my pan with parchment paper and had no problem serving it. Hubby even commented that it was good, which is rare for him. Will definitely be making this very often. It is so easy to prepare and I can't say enough how good it tastes.

Apple Dumpling Cake

I used Empire, Mutsu, and Gala apples. For the flour I used 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour and 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup vegetable oil. Also sprinkled a little nutmeg into the flour mixture. Quick, easy, & good.

Neapolitan Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2012
Love this recipe. Chocolate and strawberry taste so good together and the frosting is perfect. I ran out of the strawberry cake mix after filling 30 cupcakes so I put the extra brownie mix into a small pan and baked it so I have brownies too. I used 2 different types of cupcake pans, 1 Faberware which is heavier and a little darker and my 40 year old Sears aluminum, so 1/2 of my cupcakes were burnt on the bottom. The ones that were not burnt are delicious. Will definitely make these again.
